true
This is the most inconsequential debate I have ever seen. Indeed, you don't have to be asked to say something, but all of you are missing the main meaning of “who asked”. Who asked is essentially a sarcastic/passive-aggressive way of saying “what you have just said is bad or serves little to no purpose here”. Now let's take a look at some facts.

1. This forum is about an Undertale engine.

2. We have been asked to stay on topic multiple times.

3. The comments made by notTheRealMarshall regarding their vectors are not Undertale engine related.

This means that notTheRealMarshall made a post that was not related to the topic in any shape or form. Looking at it from this point of view, saying “who asked” makes sense and is somewhat applicable here. While I do not necessarily concur with the usage of “who asked”, I will definitely be leaning toward that side.

With that being said, I am quite surprised how you all were able to blow it out of proportion.

He said that nobody has to ask you for you to share your thoughts MEANING it doesnt matter if anyone asked you can say what you what because you have the right of free freakin speech so you can share your thoughts no matter if anyone asked you too because that is just common courtesy. Like the mods said if you have a personal debate DISCUSS SUCH MATTERS ON USER PAGES this forum is not a place to dump your bs onto.

apparently not because nobody can agree on if somebody said a long version of WHO ASKED. And also the fact that when the forum was first shut down because we were arguing when it got put back up WE CONTINUED THE SAME POINTLESS ARGUMENT.
doggy_boi1 doggy_boi1 loading
you know what, if you guys are gonna argue can you not mass quote???? Only quote the bit you wanna respond to pls
I just reported the pointless argument we were having and asked for the forum to be shutdown because we obviously cannot handle being in a group together. its just bickering, arguing, and telling each other off about pointless things I swear every time I click on this forum it's something new just wall after wall of mass quoting.

If a new person came here THEY CAN'T FIND THE FATAL ERROR POST OR ANYTHING ELSE ON TOPIC BECAUSE THE ARGUMENT IS PUSHING IT BACK.

exactly. if nobody can argue then new people can look through and find everything they need to answer any question they might have. remember that argument that arose after I asked an ON TOPIC question?

That's literally happened before. 35% of the forum followers DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS POSTPONED because this “wHo AsKeD” thing was pushing back any info related to the subject. That's why I said if you're gonna argue only quote the part you're responding to, break 1 rule instead of 2 (I'd rather you break 0)

The irony. The problem isn't with the forums, it's with the people who continue these pointless arguments even when asked not to. Fortunately for us, these people get banned.

I have yet to see that happen. Any time an argument takes place, the messages get purged and you cannot continue the argument as it's gone. Once again, the problem isn't with the forums, but with the users.

Many other people go off topic too, And what is there to talk about an unreleased engine besides ask questions? I have never been on an actual forum where you talk before besides this one and I am still learning. What can I improve on?

I perfectly understand, but I'm only stating objective facts. While I really don't care about the topics, this one, for some reason became more than just “off-topic”.

You must keep in mind that the other off-topics are not about them but about other topics. In your case, some people might view it as if you are trying to get attention or something (which would honestly explain this whole situation).
I probably wont say anything like I tried to whenever the engine is gonna release, Normally I say stuff about how far we've come but I am not gonna do that because normally something happens or we are proven wrong about what's gonna happen

An update on the whole engine

Since the post got locked by accident for a full month, let me break down the status on the engine and what to expect.

The engine is being fully re-coded, the fatal error was about the new code being built on old code. Which created a lot of issues, I have no problems recording the whole thing as the previous code navigation was somewhat messy. The broadcast events were unorganized, the variables were over-used, and the list method was just too confusing.

-Exact Undertale Damage system
The previous system was based on how I thought the Undertale damage system worked, after doing deeper research, I realized most of my damage system had been coded incorrectly. So the new engine will feature very accurate formulas from Undertale.

New engine will now include:

-Multi monster system
You will now have the ability to add three monsters to the fight. Unfortunately, due to scratch limits, I cannot create the fancy dust effect for multi-monsters, this option will still be a thing only for one monster.
A new GUI method will be introduced, it's called enemy profiling. Each enemy profile can support up to three enemies (can be the same ones). To add enemies to this profile, you'll have to use the Enemy creator GUI.

Enemy Profiling will include:
Enemies (up to three), selected OST, and background.

Enemy Creator will include:
-All of the enemy base stats
-Enemies name
-Special editor (gives you more control over damage system)
-Enemy sprite selector

-Another feature that's under question

-Overworld editor (GUI)
Overworld editor will be a feature that allows you to create your very own overworld system with a special editor.
This editor will feature:
-Tile selection (all zones tiles will be included)
-Brush sizes
-Encounter points (with messages)
-Areas where enemies can occur with delay and rate
-Collision system
-Camera control
-Room node system, A to D, meaning you can have a room with 4 possible exits. The node system will be another GUI that will help you link rooms with one another.
-Background selector

-Another feature under question (with animation)

Multiplayer and CO-OP
CO-OP
You can play with someone on one keyboard, giving WASD and Arrow keys (can be reversed in settings) controls.

Multiplayer
You will have the ability to play with 3 people on cloud (all must be Scratchers rank). In settings, you can whitelist usernames that you want to play with.
I am unsure how this will work once all of you are in the overworld, but I'm already aware of how it will work during a battle.

That's about all, have fun.

New update!!! Also art by me

As far as I know, he has been coding this for a long time so much of the code is very old, broken, and limiting. Instead of creating another version of another popular engine, he is making a new one from scratch. The engine will know release with new features now that all of the old and broken code is replaced with new stuff. The fatal error is basically everything
