Can you pls feature my Easter studio? Today is Easter and I see that there are no featured Easter projects and studios! I think my studio is a good example of Easter projects! https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/34865850

Firstly, April fools on Scratch is a privilege, not an expectation, since it isn't necessary to the site or strives common Scratch goals, like educational value, promoting equality etc.

Secondly no April fools celebrations could come from many reasons. With the forums it was because of spam in previous years and how this lagged the website (especially with testing the forum's bandwidth due to this) and how this lag has degraded the forums with lag overtime. (source)

With the main site - the post I linked above does state that there will be an April fools day studio that people can add projects to based on a theme, which I would recommend doing, creating April Fools Day projects is fun (I had a blast making mine last year!) so if you still want to celebrate April Fools day I would recommend that. With the studio not being out yet it could infer that all April Fools day activities are coming out tomorrow, but that's just a theory.

Anyway, if there's no April Fools day features on the main site it could be that the Scratch Foundation has gone through many changes recently, like from having layoffs and from constantly changing the CEO. Former Scratch Team member @wheelsonfire has stated that there is a lack of leadership in the development team, so perhaps not partaking in unnecessary development time in April Fools day and instead focusing on more important stuff is the best action to take to imrpove the team.

I think this happened starting 2020 or so, but before that I believe festivities lasted throughout April 1st. Regardless, this year is an odd year anyway since Easter is the day before AFD; as a result, Scratch Team members are probably not online often anyway.

Salut,

Hello Ceebee, today I would like to propose my study that is about Football/Soccer and I think it is a good idea to be a featured study, why? You will wonder. Well, I think it is a good study in all areas, it is a friendly and attractive topic for most people, for many it is one of their favorite topics, it would be very good to share projects and debate in addition there are not many projects about football and this would make more scratchers encouraged to do projects, it would be a dream that I achieve it, because I tried very hard to do that study, I hope you consider it, these are more reasons why I would like and the expectations to meet that my studio is features.

-Many curators

-Fear but active Managers

-Striking description

-Simple and eye-catching title

-Specific topic

-Not everyone can add projects

-Friendly

I hope you take my study into account: here is the link to my study: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/34852340/

Thank you

Kanye West is the most overrated rapper of all time, I'm sorry, I can't pretend he's the goat anymore. Anything he says or creates everyone's like “that's such a ye thing” and it's so freaking annoying. he can't make a bad song and get critiqued anymore, he has this incel army who call him the ‘goat’ and defend him no matter what he does. Vultures was the most mediocre garbage I've heard all year. I can't keep acting like Ty Dolla Sign is a good artist either. Carnival was fun, i guess, but it was carried by the chorus and Carti's verse. Also Ye just inserting himself into the Drizzy-KDot-Cole beef was so narcissistic but at least everyone agrees on that. Plus the people who say “Kendrick better rapper, Kanye better artist”, hell no, Kendrick clears as both a rapper and an artist. Lyrics are artistry too, I don't care if Kanye has better production. plus we're gonna act like kendrick has bad production? listen to D@MN. with headphones. kanye is closer to Drake than he is to Kendrick/Em/Wayne/2pac/big/nas/lauryn/3k/etc

Edit:

NOT saying Kanye is a bad rapper/artist, he's great and top 20, but his recent stuff is terrible and he's overrated to death
He's very overrated by his fanbase and has a lot of really bad songs, but he also has enough genre defining albums to justify him being in that group.

Also the fact that Eminem is in there despite falling off even harder than Kanye and only getting placed in that group for 2 20+ y/o albums.
But Eminem gets so much hate from everyone, Kanye doesn't at all. Plus, Eminem didn't fall off as hard as you're saying, only Revival and Relapse are that bad

Also Eminem's technical ability clears most people's flawless discographies

critique for alana 407 wordywordss

The grassy plains stretched along the horizon for miles, and the sun glimmered in the sky, shining its luminous light amongst the vibrant shades of pink and yellow scattered in the clouds. It was as if someone had blended those two colors together using a brush that hadn’t been washed after its last dip in yellow.
This is beautiful imagery!!
I love the sky being the focus- often I feel it's ignored but it's such an integral part of the scene and I just loved how you chose to describe it <33
This does lead to the first bit about the plains feeling slightly underdone/out of place, but that doesn't impact the read much at all.
'those two colours' to me feels slightly wordy- since you've already referenced the pink and yellow it could be possible to just use ‘the colours’ or ‘those colours’
I really, really love the use of the word ‘scattered’ here, it's perfect.

The valley was quite vast in size as it was mainly made up of nature that thrived in the land. The one community that did live in the center of the land worked together to harvest the surrounding crops.
I don't quite understand this first sentence- it seems to be suggesting that the valley was large because nature thrived in it, which only geographically wouldn't make sense.
The word ‘land’ is only used twice but as they're quite close it does feel repetitive.

As the snow banks began to melt - a sign of spring and new beginnings - the cherry blossoms that were a predominant site in the valley began to blossom. Everywhere you looked, shades of white and pastel pink were present. It was almost like living through a surreal fantasy; something you could only hope for, but would never come true no matter how hard you wished. Although the valley was known for its breathtaking beauty, it was more commonly remembered for all the legends and prophecies that revolved around it.
Oh my gosh, I love the snow/spring thing, it really sets the tone!
That's a great transition from description to the introduction of themes and plot. It, to me, hints at something going on under the surface, beneath all the beauty. (And maybe that's what you were attempting to hint at? )

At the time, the Elders from above as well as common ritual leaders would use their psychic abilities to predict the future.
At what time? It's not entirely clear- I think it's at the time of the legends, but a different starter may help to explain.

These theories were then stored in orb-like spheres, all encased in glass, to protect them from the eyes of the darkness that lurked within the shadows. Protected at such security, they were forgotten as time went on - despite this, countless greedy individuals did take an occasional hike up to the Ancient Temple of Lost Secrets.
The ‘protected at such security’ bit is a little bit of a funny clause- I'm not really sure how to clarify it though.

As expected, they were met with such fatal deaths since the temple was sealed by the magic from the Elders. Centuries passed and as time went on, the _____ were lost to wind.
This is a lot of information at once, but I feel like it's presented in a really clear, orderly way
Throughout the piece there are a lot of long, beautiful sentences- it may help variation and readability to add a few short, punchy ones in

This is a really, really amazing bit of writing!! (and I'm hoping to read the final piece when it's done :0) Your use of simile in description is truly amazing, and it allows the scene to be portrayed so clearly it's like a photograph. The description, especially towards the start, it honestly incredible, and I feel like it's great at pulling the reader in and allowing them to really engage in the story from the start! That definitely seems to be a massive strong suit :00 Anything I've said is entirely nitpicking. This is a lovely work to read (like all your writing!) and I'm very glad I got to see it <333

In the latest GoK version, I reduced the effect of mobility evaluation significantly. I think it simply generated too much noise. The mistake was that I tried which values would prevent trapped queens or rooks, but the same values might just screw up positional evaluation when there is no real danger despite reduced mobility.

In a first test game, GoK (Medium, white) took on Element (6+8), and played a perfect game, winning in 40 moves. Element played great too, its only blunder was not considering en-passant: https://lichess.org/fUuTd7NV#79

Not sure I understand correctly about TT mate evaluations, but I know they can be challenging. LMR is important from a certain search depth on.
I can’t fix the TT mate eval issue, so I’m removing them when the TTable is on. The LMR is to keep up with White Dove’s search depth. Detecting king captures in the evaluation will cause issues…

Quick question; why are move generation lookups faster than the more standard method? The latter uses numerical calculations, so it should be faster.

Hm, the standard move generation method on any other platform would be bitboards. As we don't have 64bit integers nor bitwise ops, what comes closest are precalculated lookup tables, as they limit the number of Scratch blocks invoked, which is the most important performance factor on Scratch 3. On TurboWarp that is not the case, but lookup tables should also be faster than additional logic code.
Ok, why are lookup tables faster than using operators? A lookup table is put into a Boolean, but a small set of operators should be faster (mod for edge detection for example).

I don't know what you mean by “A lookup table is put into a Boolean”. We would have to compare concrete alternative approaches to discuss them. In general, a lookup table contains already the outcome that code logic would have to produce, time and again, during move generation.

I’m just not a big fan of it being called “fool”. Obviously, this April Fools emoji could be used to easily bypass the filter to tell people how stupid they think that the user is. It would increase the amount of moderation that the Scratch Team would have to handle, which is already ever-increasing. This would be a real pain for them.

However, if you were to change it to _aprilfools_ , then I think that would be so much better, because it’s a lot harder to’ use to mock someone. They’d have to use the emoji and just say, “Oh, forget that the word ‘april’ isn’t there. Also forget about that last letter ‘s’. Yeah. That’s right.” At that point, it would just get stale and literally no one would care.
_april_ is shorter

Broken Bond

<<Thanks to @Thecatperson19 for critiquing this entry>>

There was once a beautiful sea,
Made out of friendship carefree,
And there were two islands in that sea,
That shared a bond, you and me

A bond that laid on the ocean floor,
Weaved together through many years
Of kindness, trust, secrets, and more
That connected us through happy cheer

But one day, from deep in the sea,
Came a pearl of truth, floating to the surface
A truth that came prematurely,
Bobbing on the waves of our purpose

And after, came a storm
Of tears, pain, betrayal, and agony
That rained upon us with lightning and more
And so we grew apart distantly

Over time, our bond held on,
Bit by bit until it broke apart
Two islands, now lost
We felt so much pain, now that we depart

Eventually, the storm faded away,
And over time, I realized my mistake
I wanted someone to help me through the fray
I started to miss you, and that’s when I began to break.

Life was crumbling piece by piece
I needed someone to be there,
But where you used to be
Was a sorrowful gush of air.

Working myself up to talk to you,
What would you say,
What would you do,
Despite my worries, I decided I would try today

But I realized you felt the same, mate
All that the past left us was regret
So we decided to change our fate,
We tried to talk and forget.

And bit by bit, over time,
We weaved back our broken bond,
Two little islands again entwined
And so our beautiful sea returned

It's a heist plot.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. By cloud variables a I meant multiplayer games and mistyped.
I think griffpatch has a series for making multiplayer games on his yt channel.

The basic concept is this:

1) We select an unused cloud variable (if possible).
2) We encode the data of a player into a number (because cloud variables can’t contain text).
3) We put that encoded number into our cloud variable (from step 1).
4) We go through the rest of the cloud variables and decode them.
5) We use clones to interpret the decoded datas from the cloud variables.
5.1) The decoded datas are used to position, rotate, and to other stuff with the clones (which represent other player).

That is the basic concept of cloud multiplayer, there is a bit more nuance to it though.

Things to note:
1) cloud variables can only store numbers
2) cloud variables have a maximum character length of 256 (e.g. you can’t set a cloud variable to a number with 257 (or more) digits)
3) cloud variables can only be updated every 0.1 seconds (3 frames).

have you tried turning off all your addons and seeing if it's still there?
Upon doing that I have discovered that it is in fact ScratchT… ools… (Scratch doesn't like naming addons anymore)

Theres also no option for it so it's a work in progress feature?

That would be odd, as April 1st celebrations generally occur March 31- sometime on April 2 for Scratch, if I remember correctly.
I think this happened starting 2020 or so, but before that I believe festivities lasted throughout April 1st. Regardless, this year is an odd year anyway since Easter is the day before AFD; as a result, Scratch Team members are probably not online often anyway.

in the loosest form of the word, it “”works“” on scratch. the forums recognise it as flash and it does not cause any bugs with scratch, so you could say it “works”.
My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Firefox 124.0, Flash 32.0 (release 0)
however, scratch 3 doesn't use flash, so it's entirely useless on the scratch website (altho scratch 2 did use flash and ruffle can run it, altho with a few issues)

Regardless of what time zone you are in, I am assuming everybody will have at least 24 hours to use cat blocks, if they make a return this year.

No, this is Scratch-wide. A few emojis are supported, for example: ☠️ ✝️ ™️ ☺️
I should've elaborated - in the forums, an emoji will cause everything after the emoji (and the emoji itself) to be removed. On the Scratch website, only the emoji get silently removed.

Shark just tried to murder me again, and just declared that the non pvp zone in Mantisburgh was void? Who gave him this authority? He’s just targeting me because he’s too afraid of everyone else in my nation. Just keeping you updated. Shark needs to be de opped. He’s broken the rules about 5 too many times.
what rules did he break specifically
No combat is permitted in claimed land unless allowed by the owner (it wasn't)
It's funny how you were the one to hit first.

I would also like to clear the situation up publicly on the forums by saying that the original killing of Wulvie was a mistake (I did not realize that it was against the rules), and I have since made up for it. The killing of Shy, even though it happened in Mantis, was justified self-defense because I was attacked by her with an axe. Then of course the last skirmish in Mantis mentioned above was also justified because I wasn't even the one who started it!

I was floating around in the water in Mantis when Skood joined the game. He asked Wulvie whether or not PvP was allowed in Mantis when he saw me. Wulvie said no, it wasn't allowed. 2 minutes later Skood krits me with his sword. This is how the battle started! He broke the pvp rules willingly in his own nation! Later Skood would also shoot arrows at me in neutral Spain as well.

I haven't broken the rules on killing in claimed territories since the first incident.

Nothing wrong with that. You should see the videos where professional Pop producers make professional tracks in Garageband.

swc mar '24 : daily #31 (thank you notes)

“ with that, another session has come to a wrap! we hope you enjoyed it - perhaps leaving with newly built friendships, and lasting memories to cherish! as we finish up this session and start preparations for the next, take some time to reflect. what are your favorite memories of this month? who or what made an impact on you? now go ahead and let those people know! write some thank you's to express your gratitude for the influence they've made on you and others <3 ”

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆ ୨୧ ⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to our dear (g)hosts:

thank you for yet another amazing session! as usual, you did not disappoint, with a new iconic camp mascot and all the activities you’ve provided throughout the session. all the work you put in behind the scenes has definitely payed off and will go down in history, all of you (g)hosts who have contributed so much to make this camp what it is today.

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to the daily team, and everyone who gave suggestions:

thank you for providing us with endless activities and ideas for them every session, some swclassics, others completely new, and of course, the trip back to memory lane with memorieswc, the fourth weekly of this session. i’m honored to have the chance to write some of those dailies and weekly parts as well, especially the pi day one ^^ it truly made my day seeing the ‘and a free pi pie!’ up in the main cabin desc, hehe.

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to silky:

thank you for being an amazing co for epistolary. the terminal simply wouldn’t exist without the help of you and nat. i’ve had the most wonderful time cabin planning with you, and you’re just one of the nicest people i’ve worked with, like ever. thank you! p.s., your leader app brought back so many memories <3

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to nat:

i know this might sound a bit strange, but really, thank you for taking care of yourself. real life can pose challenges, and as always, life > swc. thank you for being a wonderful co nonetheless- you’re truly amazing. <33

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to mouse:

thank you for your endless support through my swc journey! i find it interesting the way we met, which just so happens to be last year’s march session when you and horror were on a quest to burn down all the other cabins with mango flame. and thank you for agreeing to make me a dystopian pfp… i’m totally a camper btw :> i also enjoyed the little conversations we’ve had, mostly during the times i was stalking your cabin, hehe.

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to mousella (aka mouse + bella):

thank you for giving me the chance to be on your podcast hehe- mangoes and mayhem is such an amazing idea (like seriously, a swc podcast!?) that all swc-ers should know about. thank you for all the inspiration and motivation you’ve given me, and i’m sure that applies to everyone who’s heard even a single episode.

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to bella and nova:

thank you for cheering me up about the name situation with my supply teacher, it felt so much better getting it off my shoulders and it’s great to know that there are people out there who are there for you wherever you need it <3

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to zion:

how has it been so long?!? thank you for being the first person to ever interact with me during swc- well, i wasn’t officially a camper then, but i have no idea if i’d ever be in this camp at this moment if it weren’t for the comment you left on that one project. it was fun being the sci-fi database’s traitor, though /obviously/ the credit has to go to the sci-fi leadership team for coming up with the storyline. once again, congrats on leading your first-ever swc cabin! you deserve it <3

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to blau:

did i force you into this? most likely, though i’m not entirely sure exactly what i said xD thank you for being such a nice friend, in and outside of swc. hearing that you enjoyed this experience just makes my day like eighty-eight percent better (wxs ref hehe). thank you and wandahoi~ to you too! ;D

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to sooeun:

yes. this has been the best session i’ve had for many reasons, one of them being forcing recommending two people to join swc. thank you for being a great friend ^^ hope you enjoyed this new experience, and thank you again!

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to summer, recca, and sophia:

thank you to you, and the rest of poetry, for being our amazing siblings!! your cabin is soo pretty and i’m so glad poetry has been brought back for yet another session. thank you for being such amazing siblings, you’re all so nice too :sob:

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to summer:

first and foremost, thank you for leading poetry and making it so amazing aah- and of course, having made the stunning sibling cabin thumbnail and coming up with the name (yes, the sibling trio name that will forever be iconic xD). and of course, our little secret april fool’s switcheroo was your idea to begin with. seriously, your ideas are always amazing <3

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to luka, september, and mabel:

utopian!! i actually asked for utopian as my second choice, after epistolary, and i practically screamed when it was in the session lineup, and to such wonderful leaders too :0 the concept is amazing, and being siblings makes it even better <3 poetic epistopia for the win! (and unlimited cookies for tctwnw, as always. maybe even unlimited +1 <3)

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to alana:

thank you for being so patient with us when it came to mb deadlines, and all the fun and chaos that you’ve brought to epistolary during cabin wars. most importantly, i know i can never stress this enough, but thank you for bringing back fairy tales for yet another session. i know i’m saying this on behalf of the whole camp when i say that fairy tales is probably one of the most iconic swc cabins ever ; )

edit: and also for helping me clarify some small things about weekly 4 :,) totally my fault i messed up, sorry i hooked you into this </3

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to alana, sienna, and amethyst:

how??!?! every time i look at your cabin i gasp in shock at the storyline, the graphics, and everything. one of the most iconic swc cabins ever, and wow, you three did not disappoint- this is sure to go down in swhistory :00

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to river:

ah, our local enemy warrer river. thank you for consistently keeping us campers engaged throughout cabin wars. we probably wouldn’t have written the amount we have without you and alana’s very frequent wars :,D

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to epistolary:

thank you for everything- adding words and finishing activities to help our cabin, being the supportive and friendly people you are, and well, camper-ing in general. epistolary just wouldn’t be complete without you all. (and if you see a seemingly random follow, i have a thing of following every camper during the last day- treat it as a thank you for making the session amazing ^^)

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to the poetic epistopia:

probably the best sibling trio name i have ever seen, credits to summer xD it was really fun getting to know all of you, and being a part of the activities in our sibling studio. throughout the session, we’ve learned so much about each other through assumptions, two truths one lie, and many more. i’ve truly enjoyed our time together, and i hope you have as well <3

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

to swc:

yes, you! everyone who has been a part of swc past and present. if you don’t see your name here, i’m here to tell you that you all have my deepest gratitude, from the bottom of my heart. it’s slightly embarrassing to say that i found this camp through stalking profiles, but i’m so glad i did. after all, i probably wouldn’t have been able to get through a lot of irl issues if it weren’t for this super supportive and welcoming community. it’s amazing to think that even though most of us have never met before, since we’re all spread out all over the world, it’s like we know each other better than most people we know in real life. to be fair, swc is real life for us too, hehe.

⋆ ┈┈┈┈┈ ⋆

when i first signed up for swc, it was because i wanted to improve my writing. when i decided on making my first leader app, it was because i wanted to share this experience with you all on a larger scale, to hopefully inspire swc-ers old and new for the better, and i can’t be happier to say that my goal has been accomplished throughout fairy tales and epistolary the past two sessions.

swc, thank you so much for everything. <3
