I've created a game (currently unshared since this is a major update) and I'm trying to make the main sprite detect a certain color and show it there.

The backdrop is light brown framed by dark brown. The sprite (usually a blue square, but changes with the holidays, i.e. it's a red envelope on Lunar New Year.) The blue square will find a random spot on the screen, and if it's on the dark brown, it'll find another spot. This will keep on going until the spot is light brown.

So far, I've tried this:

when green flag clicked 
hide

when I receive [actually start v]
repeat until <touching color [#ffbf00]?>
go to [ random position v]
if <touching color [#806000] ?> then
go to [ random position v]

which doesn't work…it keeps on showing up in the same position every time! (And in the darker brown!)

This will happen a lot. When the game starts, the blue square will appear randomly after 2-11 seconds. You get a point if you press it before the timer goes off. (If you don't accomplish this, you lose points. You won't die, but having -234 points is worse than dying, right?)
Afterwards, the square will disappear, whether you successfully pressed it in time or not. It'll do the 2-11 second cooldown again, but this time in a different spot. I want this to always appear in the light brown.

I've got everything figured out except for the spawning thing. Can y'all help me, please?

Cut to TITLE CARD: Superman and the City of Tomorrow

POW! Superman gets punched by a purple fist, the fist of Parasite. He picks up the figure and throws him to the ground when suddenly, Bizarro pounces on him. Superman shakes him off as Livewire shoots a bolt of electricity at Parasite, giving him enough energy to get back up. The battle continues. Toyman, Atomic Skull, Silver Banshee, Microwave Man, all arrive just to give Superman a battle he'll never forget. Superman pushes through them, fighting no matter what, as he reaches exactly what he wanted the whole time. Or rather… who he wanted. A child. A small, scared child. He picks up the child, tells them it'll be okay, uses his superspeed to get her out of the way, then comes back. He turns around to see all these villains ready to pick up the fight. He smiles.

Daily Planet. The office is bustling with work. “KENT! KENT! Where is that man…” grumbles Perry White. “LANE! Do you know where Kent is?” Lois Lane. Pulitzer Prize winning investigative reporter, former army brat, terrible typist replies “No. Probably got captured by a supervillain again.” She gets a call from Jimmy Olsen, photographer. “Hello? Again? Alright. Oh, is Clark with you? They always put you in separate places, don't they. I'm on my way.” Perry sees Lois leave her desk. “Lane? Where are you going?” “Getting Jimmy. Bunch of villains are attacking Waid Hall, he got captured again.” Lois gets up, and rushes down the stairs. “Lane! LANE! WHEN YOU HEAR THERE'S DANGER, YOUR FIRST INSTINCT SHOULD NOT BE TO RUN TOWARDS THE DANGER! LAAAAAANNNNNEEEE!”

More fighting. Punches upon punches upon punches. Superman, at this point, just trying to keep them at bay. There are too many of them. Suddenly… “Ow!” Superman falls to the ground, clutching his shoulder. He looks at it. A green shard is embedded in his invulnerable shoulder. An impossibility. And yet… completely real. He looks up to see a sniper on top of a building leaving. His enemies walk towards him when suddenly, he appears in a white void.

“Not now, please not now, this is a horrible time…” “Welcome to The Mister Mxyzptlk Show, with your host, Mister Mxyzptlk!” says a disembodied announcer. Superman is severely annoyed by this. Mxy walks out. “Welcome to the 6.022 × 10²³ episode of our show! And to celebrate, we're giving you a special treat! For the past 2 millennia, I've been terrorizing you!” “It's only been 4 years.” “That's what you think! Anyway, to celebrate, until you tell me to stop, I'm going to be helping you only! No more turning your friends into turtles or puppets, just helping you. And to start, I'll be stopping most of your villains for you! Not all though, our audience needs some entertainment.” And Superman is teleported back to Waid Hall.

He sees Parasite in front of him when he's suddenly run over by a car. Lois opens the door and yells “Where's Jimmy!” Superman gets in and asks what she's talking about. He doesn't know Jimmy's there. A car chase ensues with Parasite chasing after them as we get to see their dynamic. The car crashes into a building to reveal Jimmy, dangling over a vat of boiling acid. Superman gets out, and falls to the floor in pain. Suddenly, Parasite crashes through the roof and puts his hands on Superman's head. Energy flows through him, crackling. But he starts to overload and say the same number over and over again. 36. 36. 36. Parasite falls to the floor, unconscious. The battle is over. But what has it led to…?

In space, a ship floats. We see robotic tentacles controlling screens. One of these screens flashes in an alien language. The tentacles click on the screen, as it shows a picture of Superman…

OK, but since an FEN string is only one row long, do you want the project to have a whole chess board where you add the FEN string and it modifys the board depending on the string? Or just has a row that reflects whatever FEN you want to decrypt?

yeah that's all amazing! waterish theme would probably be better, as leaders could come up with storylines such as “lost at sea” or even “mermaid adventures.” cabin wars-ish could be like a kraken/sea monster destroying the cabin, and there can be a theme mascot such as a certain little turtle… *gurtle theme song plays*

And no, this isn't supposed to be a cloud game, or a game at all. I don't want to make online chess in scratch as that would take way too long and already one exists. I just want to make a tool where you can import a FEN string and maybe a PGN in the future and the project will display the correct chess position.

There is also PGN's which is telling us the moves played, but I want to focus on a specific position for now. FEN and PGN are the most popular, and they sound simple, but implementing them into scratch is hard at least for me. Im not sure if there are any other ways but I will look into it. For now, I will focus on FEN as that is what most people know and websites give to the user.

Share the project and I'm sure you'll get lots of simple solutions. I'm sure you can handle this with something along the lines of setting a pickUp variable to false at the beginning of each frame, setting it to true when something has been picked up and checking that it's false before allowing anything to be picked up.

Theoretically if they're using the ‘when sprite clicked’ hat block then that wouldn't work because the code would be running at the exact same frame.

Bakugo stared at his somewhat transparent hands.
He had died.
This wasn’t a practical joke. No one in his class had the quirk to do this, and none of the villains had gotten close enough to touch him except for Deku, and Deku hadn’t actually touched him. Besides, he didn’t have a quirk… right?
Bakugo wasn’t so sure now. That sense of pain that had gripped him and apparently killed him had been so realistic… He had never heard of a power like that. It was unnerving.
As he watched the scene unfolding below, he walked over to Deku and studied him. It had been only 10 months since he had faked his death, but he had changed so much. Even his demeanor had changed, and it was freaky. He seemed so intimidating now, like an aura made from years of being bullied by Bakugo had built up into a wall around him. His eyes were the same color though, and they seemed to hold the same sadness and determination that they had held throughout his life. How had Bakugo not noticed that before? He had only seen the weakness, and the jealousy he had held of Deku. He had been Quirkless, but it was almost like he was braver than any pro hero he knew. And he was so kind and had a strong sense of justice. What had this League of Villains done to corrupt it?
Deku seemed to shiver a bit as Bakugo moved around him. Can he sense me somehow? He wondered as Deku’s eyes slid across him and the rest of his class.
Kirishima stared forward with a sob and scream of rage. Bakugo blinked. He had tried to push the spiky-haired guy away. People he knew tended to have bad things happen to them, so he was as much of a jerk as he could afford to be in a hero course. Apparently, it hadn’t worked. He watched helplessly as Kirishima struggled against Kaminari. The same thing had happened with Kaminari, and yet sadness settled over the usually energetic classmate.
Bakugo watched as Deku mentioned something to about a ‘target’ to Tomura. His eyes narrowed. The villain had also mentioned something about everyone being expendable earlier, so the target couldn’t be someone in the class. Was it a teacher or some other pro hero? Or perhaps they were part of the police.
Suddenly, the class disappeared into a portal. He watched them all open their mouths to scream as they fell, but they were swallowed up too quickly for them to make any noise. Bakugo recoiled. Where had they gone?
“Don’t do this.” Bakugo whispered to his old friend. He set a hand onto Deku’s shoulder. “If you can hear me, please. Don’t do this. None of them deserve it. What happened to you?”
Another shudder ran through Deku, and again his eyes swept USJ for the source of wind. Bakugo growled. “LET THEM GO!” He shouted, trying to spark an explosion in Deku’s face. Nothing happened.
Am I Quirkless now? Bakugo wondered, staring down at his hands again in shock. Was this how Deku had felt? Powerless, or like all his dreams had been stripped away? And then his childhood friend turned on him and bullied him…
Bakugo shook his head. He couldn’t spiral into those thoughts or he would never get out. He had learned that in the ten months that he had thought Deku was dead during.
Deku began to walk towards Tomura, his boots clicking against the tile as he moved towards the villain. Bakugo followed, unsure of what would take place next. What would he do? Was he condemned to a life of following his previous victim around, or could he somehow save his classmates? He tore his hands through his spiky hair.
Maybe I can save Deku before he goes too far.

~Two hours later~

Bakugo would have choked on bile if he wasn’t already dead. He stared down at All Might, the previous number one hero and one of his teachers at UA. His power hadn’t been enough to defeat the Nomu, as the League of Villains had dubbed it. He was dead. Bakugo thought he saw a wisp rise from the former pro hero, and then it was gone. He blinked. Why hadn’t All Might stayed?
Maybe I have one last mission left to fulfill before I get to leave. Bakugo theorized, folding his arms. That sounds way too philosophical. Maybe some people get to go and others don’t. Who cares?
The words sounded empty.
Deku glanced over his shoulder at Bakugo, then back down at All Might. Memories seemed to swim in his eyes, maybe from the days where he had been All Might’s biggest fan. He turned away.
“Kurogiri, take us away.” He growled roughly. Kurogiri gave a nod and opened a portal. Bakugo followed the League of Villains as they left USJ, as well as Thirteen, Aizawa, All Might and Bakugo’s corpses. It could possibly be the last time he would ever see this place, the place where he had been killed by his victim of bullying all those years.
He turned his back and continued on.

Hey I think I can help, but are you going to turn this into a cloud game, because if so, there are better ways to describe the position of pieces on rows/more fit for online. Also, while FEN's look to be good at describing chess pieces and easy to understand and concise for humans to understand, there might be better ways to it so it's simpler for computers to decrypt.

Those are a small fraction of the ideas suggested in that project. There’s no reason to reject all the ideas just because some of them wouldn’t be implemented.

I never said anything about all of these being rejected. I was just pointing out which of them won't be added.

I think it might have something to do with remixes etc. Cloud variables, for example, could be really confusing to newer scratchers. Because featured projects are the first thing new scratchers see, I think it's so that they can experiment and remix. It's also important they are able to understand the projects I think? Idk. Sorry this is a very messy reply lol.

Yes, but Scratch is based in the US so nation specific functions will go with the US's version.

White Dove is scary fast on S3 runtime! Why is the NPS so low on Scratch and Turbowarp?

I’ll work on stalemate detection relatively soon. I was going to remove mat evaluations, but I don’t think that’s an option. It looks like a virtual king captured is cut off by a non-mate evaluation somehow. I’m clueless…

Hello! I really loved the plot of this story. I also thought the description at the start was great, when describing Pinewood. (I also loved how you did this in Part 2.) Can you do more of that in later parts - like when describing the stranger, perhaps how the curse could unleash destruction?
I also thought you could show the characters' emotions more - how does Sarah feel when facing the ‘final challenge’? Fear? Concern? I'd love you to show more emotions in these climactic parts of the story.
Apart from that, I really liked this story. Good luck on the weekly!
