Congrats little one!
Yo thanks. But I don't have a classic controller. So I installed Super Mario Bros.
There's a new homebrew exploit for the Wii called Wilbrand. Learn more about it here.

Try taking your Wii in for repair or buy a new one. Nintendo doesn't repair Wiis anymore so you'll have to find a 3rd-party repair shop. Take note of your Wii's system menu version in Wii Settings as it could be that. (if you don't see a version number, your Wii is on SYSTEM MENU VERSION 1.0!)

Also, the EULA exploit is called STR2HAX.

It's been around for as long as Letterbomb, but works with 3.0-4.3, instead of just 4.3. It also uses the command line, so that's probably why most people use Letterbomb.

Well it's new to me as it hasn't been on wii.guide up until recently AFAIK.

Your router must support 802.11b/g, 2.4GHz, and one of the following security modes.
  • None
  • WEP (very unsecure)
  • WPA-PSK-TKIP (not recommended)
  • WPA-PSK (AES) (not sure about this one)
  • WPA2-PSK (AES) (recommended)
If your router doesn't support those, you can use an ethernet adapter. The Wii only supports certain ethernet adapters that use a certain chip, like this one.

If your Wii can connect to the internet, but can't load the exploit your ISP forbids the use of a custom DNS, and you'll have to use one of the SD card exploits, or Bluebomb

There is a version of menu 4.3 that checks if you have homebrew. It installs instruction channels to CMOC, EVC, and Nintendo Channel. My Wii is running this version, can I still mod it? (Using STR2HAX)

By instruction channels, do you mean the preinstalled stubs that basically said “this is what this channel does, go download it”? If so, then yes. I'm pretty sure the menu itself is just normal 4.3, just with more channels. In addition, the menu is too old to even detect the Homebrew Channel (4.3 only deletes versions older than 1.0.7)

Your Wii is probably not compatible with BootMii installed as boot2, however.
Bump.

Also do you need a FAT32 SD card to mod the Wii? does it need to be 2GB?

I'm gonna be using a Transcend 2GB SD card. Not gonna be using an SDHC, miniSD, or microSD card unless I have to. Will that still work?

Yes, unless it's using a version older than 4.0, in which case it must be FAT16.

PizzaPizza72 wrote:

Some older games can't use SD cards larger than 2GB.
Can you format a 2GB card to FAT32? My Wii is running 4.3.

If it's 4.3, than either FAT16 or FAT32 should be fine.
I don't even know if Windows will let you format an SD card that small to FAT32, since the spec requires cards at that size to be FAT16.
What are some (legal) homebrewing applications I should run on my wii? I have the Homebrew channel.

RiiConnect24 and WiiLink. They bring back online services, and WiiLink brings back Japanese services.

The 2 listed above, and Wiimmfi. It revives the Nintendo WFC service, but everyone uses it for Mario Kart Wii.

If you have Mario Kart Wii, CTGP is a mod that adds more custom tracks to the game, it's also compatible with Wiimmfi,

Priiloader. You should probably already have it installed. It offers brick protection and numerous other features.
I HAVE DONE IT! I FINALLY MODDED MY WII!!!!!!!

The only things I've done in terms of modding with my Wii is install the homebrew channel and install Bootmii. I haven't done a backup or installed Priiloader yet, I'll do that tomorrow

I believe so.

PizzaPizza72 wrote:

Nope! I use a 4GB SDHC card. Keep in mind that generally you only want to use SD or SDHC cards. Regular SD cards are pretty small (though they certainly work), and SDXC and above aren't always supported because they are too new. I have heard of some success with them, but it's generally not worth it. If you need more than 32 gigs of storage then you can probably store the files on a USB drive.

Wiimmfi, Homebrew Browser, and d2x cIOS installer (for USB loader gx and Wii themes).
Bump. Also does a virtual SD card conflict with a real one? And do you put homebrew apps on the root of your SD card or in the apps folder?

You put them in the apps folder. Each app should have its own folder in the apps folder. See here

Alternatively, the Open Shop Channel can download apps and automatically format them correctly.

Thanks, but that other question you didn't answer. Does a virtual SD card conflict with a real one?

Or it could be that it's not compatible with that wifi. No need to jump to a full on repair

I would tell you but I'm not very familiar with Dolphin. My best advice would be to look online… or ask ChatGPT ;D

Dakotath is reviving the Wii shop channel. The name is Launchshop channel. I might see if I can help him with redeveloping the shop.

I cannot believe I have to use a wifi extender. I have to use a wifi extender cause I have Xfinity and it only has the 5ghz band. I at least got RiiConnect24 on my Wii.

Do you have a mesh Wi-Fi network?

And isn't it your router that determines what Wi-Fi bands you have, or am I misunderstanding?
