With Easter coming up this studio would be a great one to feature:
https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/34887765
It is orderly and professional looking and would be a great addition to the front page. The studio doesn't yet have the description in multiple languages, but the creator has that on the agenda and will be able to find someone to translate the studio if it goes on the front page.

It is well documented that a certain number of reports will cause a project to be temporarily removed and the creator temporarily banned (I have seen screenshots indicating the ban is for 90 minutes). I don't think the exact number is known, and it's possible that there are various factors affecting it so it may not be the same for every project. However, importantly, the takedown will be undone after the Scratch Team reviews the project if they find nothing wrong with it. Most people who say their project was taken down to to false reporting/mass reporting are either confused about the reason it was taken down or outright lying for sympathy.

See this essay for more information.

One thing, perhaps for moved accounts you need to enter the password of the account you wanna say you moved to. Yk, to prevent trolls and people who’d do stuff like “this user moved to @*insertusertoimpersonate*” and stuff like that.

i like this idea, but there’s a potential problem with it. if a really famous account’s password is compromised, there’s nothing stopping users from just claiming they own a user. so to fix that, i’ll actually make it a three-step process so it’s extra super duper secure.

1.) the source user has to enter the target user’s password.
2.) the target user has to accept the move request in their inbox.
3.) the target user has to input their password one more time to finalize their changes.
Great idea! Impersonation is much less likely this way. Cause if there weren’t the extra steps, for example @scratcher1 could say they moved to @scratcher2 when in reality they aren’t @scratcher2, and then on the @scratcher1 account pretend to be @scratcher2.

Is there a way to create turbowarp extensions by using custom blocks? Like I make custom blocks in a turbowarp editor, and then I want to turn those into an extension. Is it possible to do this?
In the meantime, if you want, you can start with your test animations. Just pick a scene from the script and animate a 10-15 second clip. Since you two were here first I'll give you two first pick at your scenes once we're ready to assign them.

Sharing yt channels if there is streams on there is discouraged,
It's actually plain not allowed, not just “discouraged.” If someone is actively streaming on YouTube, they should not advertise their YouTube channel or streams on Scratch.
Would it be allowed for let’s say, if a user has their yt channel in their bio, and when they are about to stream they remove mentions of the channel from their scratch profile, and then after the stream ends if the stream was appropriate and is now safe to rewatch, to then add the channel name again after the stream?
Also, in the “final battle,” there's obvious room for cameos so you can just go crazy with those whenever we start animating ofc. When the time comes, just let me know what the cameos will be and maybe I'll get some VA's for a few of those.

Once we have some footage for a trailer, (hopefully within the next 2 weeks,) I'll release one. Let me know if you have any animators that may be interested. Once the trailer is out we'll fill in the cast but we do need our main cast for the trailer. I'm gonna try and get a few people for that in the meantime.

speakvisually (Former ST Member) wrote:

Why are you unsharing my project for being “too scary” when my 6 year-old nephew / sibling / cousin loves it and doesn't think it's scary?
Finding one example of a younger person that is not disturbed by FNAF or similar content doesn't prove that there aren't many others who do find it disturbing. We have heard feedback from many kids, parents, and teachers over the years who feel that some FNAF and similar content in projects are not appropriate for Scratch.
I'll quote parts here:

speakvisually wrote:

What’s the impact of this kind of content on Scratch? Multiple school districts have blocked access to Scratch. Several parents have reported their children having nightmares. A number of community members have expressed they feel uncomfortable browsing Scratch because of this type of content.

Which elements are considered inappropriate according to the Scratch Community Guidelines?
  1. Graphic Content: Depictions or audio that emulate weapons, gore, or violence.
  2. Intense Themes: Serious or scary topics.
  3. Vulgarity: Disrespectful or mature language.
  4. Jumpscares: Startling images that abruptly flash on the screen.

It is our policy to remove content that is too graphic, scary, or violent. We understand that unsharing and restricting content is no fun — but we hope you understand why this is a necessary step in ensuring the Scratch community remains a friendly and welcoming site for people of all ages.

Content moderation is difficult. We want to ensure that you are all able to express yourselves while also balancing the needs of the community.

Thanks,
Scratch Team
Those answer your questions as to why the same gameplay loop and stuff is banned.
And I'll back myself up: You can still make games using the characters (Note that for example you will have to get rid of the holes on the costume of Springtrap though, you know why.)
Will all Five Nights at Freddy’s and similar content be unshared?
No. We’ll only unshare content that violates our Community Guidelines. For example: An emulation of or conversation about Five Nights at Freddy’s containing any of the elements described above is not okay.
And before you mention warnings probably:
Why not implement an age appropriateness rating system on Scratch?
Everything shared in our community should be appropriate for all ages. Any type of age restriction by the Scratch Team, community members, or creators isn’t aligned with this philosophy.

Can I put a disclaimer on my Scratch project to warn people it's not for all ages?
Everything shared in our community should be appropriate for all ages. Any content that requires a disclaimer or warning isn't aligned with this philosophy and would not be suitable for Scratch. If a warning is needed, it is probably not appropriate for Scratch.

Ah, I think it must be because the velocity is so great that between frames it just goes right through without touching the color in question! Strange though, I only encountered it once and put a limit on the falling velocity and x velocity to prevent it, and I never saw it happen again. Are you positive it is there? I can't reduce the limit too much otherwise the falling will become unrealistic.
Actually, probably the best thing you can do is merge the two forever loops into one- just put the scripts that respawn the player at the bottom. That way, you know what happens first .

I think the issue with horror and Scratch is the risk that your project could get taken down, or worse, you get banned. Which really isn't great because sometimes people put a lot of effort into projects, and if it happens to be horror, it gets taken down.

As for suggestions, probably something leaning towards psychological horror would be better, mainly because the young kids Scratch is worried about giving nightmares too may not understand it. Also, there's no reliance on jumpscares, so that's not as much of a worry. Issue is that it's hard to pull off.

Also, I highly recommend putting a warning IN the project if you're going to make a horror game. Not in the notes and credits, not in the instructions, in the project. This is so it HAS to be seen before playing, which lets the players know that the game might be scary.

How about we make something completely new?

What about a skyblock server? We would create a very small island (only 500 blocks in each direction). With very limited resources. We divide players into 4 groups randomly, and place them on each corner of the island. The players arent allowed to leave their quarter of the map or go into the center area. Every sunday, we place a chest with rare resources (diamonds, lava, iron, whatever else and as the time goes on the loot gets better) in the middle of the map, and every faction can fight over this chest (you arent allowed to open this chest until every other enemy has been killed, and keepinv would be on for the duration of this battle, so that people would be focused on defending the chest, and not looting other players.) After 2 months, or the 8th sunday, we allow players to go into other players quarter and the last faction standing wins.

TLDR: limited resource skyblock server with hunger games style feasts.
Cool idea but it sounds way too much like those “1209348190 MINECRAFT PROS SIMULATE A MASSIVE SKYBLOCK MODDED SUPER CIVILIZATION OVER 100 MINECRAFT DAYS” videos you'll find on youtube

I am currently coding a game that uses imported sound effects and imported sounds. I am making this text engine and I want it to play my imported keyboard sound for only the length of time it takes for the letters to be typed out. I have made all of this work so far, but the problem is that the “clear sound effects” block does not work on these sound effects because they are imported and Scratch recognizes these as just “sounds”. A work-around to this is to use the “stop all sounds” block. This works just fine, except that it will silence any background music in your project (because it stops ALL sounds). I suggest maybe making a larger list of these sound blocks. I am thinking something along the lines of being able to give certain imported sounds a category or tag. That way you can give the music in the background a “music” tag, while the keyboard sound effect can have the “SFX” tag. Then, if several new blocks were added, such as "Stop sounds“ and ”Start sounds", these different categories can be separated. It can be used in a way similar to the variable block. There could be just a drop-down menu with a couple of choices for the tag, or maybe the coder can actually make their own tag (just like variable blocks). I think this could improve sounds in Scratch and just how much they can do to make it easier for coders to use and manipulate.

play sound [[tag] v]

stop all [tag] sounds
