Hey! This is my top-down zombie shooting game that I've been working on on-and-off for a few years, and I was hoping that someone could check it out and give me advice as to what I should add next!

My main plan right now is adding a boss fight (which is definitely not ready) but I was curious to see what you guys thought I should do next!

and can u send some ideas on how to make that level better?
thanks if u can
Haha most people won't give away their email that easily.
Surely there are other ways of giving him the level. Speedrun.com has private chats; that might work.

Source: trust me bro
In seriousness though, I do recall this being rejected but I can’t find the post right now :p

Anyways, this was rejected due to kids learning bad words, right, but like if they already said something bad they already know it.
For example let’s say “computer” is a bad word.
Scratcher says:
Computers are cool, I like them because they are things that function and uhh idk what to put here anymore bye lol
Filter says:
You have been timed for saying
Computers are cool

Hi. I've been having trouble with one of my projects, as the size is currently 213 MB. I wish there was a custom slider for scratchers to set and change whenever they want maybe going up to 1GB? It could bring the projects on a much larger scale like mine more opportunities for new features to be added without the size limit being a major problem. This has a pretty low chance of making it to scratch, but would be a nice QOL feature.

Probably the best thing to do would be download scratch 3 if you can. The scratch team isn't updating scratch 2 anymore, so they probably won't make a fix. If it's an issue with Adobe AIR, try downloading an older version (one made in 2018 or earlier).

Also, if you are having administration problems, you may not have permission to download it. Contact your system admin, if you have one. Otherwise, contact the support team of whoever made your computer.

Ok, I'm trying to determine what time we change Daily questions, bi-dailies, and weeklies. I used to do it at 3 pm my time, but I am no longer guaranteed to be available at that time every day due to a change in my class schedule. I think I could change it at 8 pm CDT every day, but I'm worried I might be busy some days. If I am busy, could one of y'all post the next daily question or bi-daily in the comments to cover for me? I just need to know if thats a good time to change it, or if I should find another time.
I got an answer from elsewhere, reporting to be closed as resolved

(PS. the answer can be what -stxllxr said in most cases, but in one of mine ST forgot to leave a reply at first i believe, because the reply on one of the posts wasn’t there last night but I checked and it’s there now.)

Hi! Just a little heads up that I won't be super active from now till the end of March due to various Easter preparations and having family in town. I'll still try to contribute when I can but just putting this out there <3

Guys, I have discovered a workaround.
([10^ v] of (((numerator) / (denominator)) * ([log v] of (base))))
or
([e^ v] of (((numerator) / (denominator)) * ([ln v] of (base))))

(I do still support an exponent block)

There are countless workarounds but not only are they extremely bulk and way over the heads of 95% of Scratchers, it's also slow. All those operations happening in Scratch and not in JS or C makes it slow. Faster exponents would be helpful for a lot of projects.

Hey! I've come up with a weekly about characters, not sure about it thoughh~

You can complete this weekly in any order, and if you're not comfortable doing any part of it, you can skip that part of it.

Part 1 - Writing
Post a link to a reference, or a description of one of your original characters - include their apperance, pronouns/gender, personality, age, and information about the world they live in (fantasy? sci-fi? modern-day? mystery?). Then find someone else's! Write a short scene (under 500 words) involving their character and the original character you posted interacting! It could be a first meeting, or maybe they're established friends? Are they enemies, or are they friends? It's up to you to decide!

Part 2 - Art
Find someone else's character, different to the one you chose before. Using their description, create a drawing of that character - it could be a simple headshot, bust, or a fullbody! It could even be a view from the back - it's up to you to decide!

Part 3 - Music
Choose another person's character - it can't be the same one you chose in parts 1 or 2. Using the information given, compose a short piece of music (it could be a song, or a instrumental piece, etc) create a minimum 30-second piece that could serve as that character's theme in a movie or tv show!

Part 4 - Free
Finally, using your own character, create something to do with them using one of your hobbies! It can be any hobby - including art, music, and writing - as long as you find it fun and enjoyable!

Point Values (Can be adjusted later)
1 part completed - 300 points
2 parts completed - 400 points
3 parts completed - 500 points
4 parts completed - 600 points

I love it! I haven't really placed point values for anything yet, but I will be working on stuff today after I complete my daily and a majority of my weekly for SWC
Great, thanks!
wait a second, are images back??

Can I change my username?

Here are a couple of things to know about usernames on Scratch:
Scratchers can't change their own usernames
The Scratch Team can, in very rare circumstances, offer username changes. This is not typical.

Here a couple of common reasons people reach out for a username change that do not qualify for a change:
You don't like your username
You've misspelled something in your username
You want your username to match what you use on other sites/profiles

If you have a good reason you can contact the Scratch Team about it.

sure!
1) So the main final battle in C1 is John getting a repeat, what if John does more than one? On each of his attempts his still uses the people around him but fails miserably. Then John learns his lesson and doesn't use them. It's a rough idea at the moment.

Sorta yeah.
Ah, got it.
(Kyg)“Hiya, I'm Kyg and I live in Yonqs.”
(interviewer): “So, Kyg, you are currently live from the naeighboring city of Yonqs, May we ask you how you feel about what is being called ‘the second technological revolutionan’ in Yonqs?”
(Kyg) “Yeah, so, basically it has been very different lately, there have been more laws and stuff, but also more tourists wanting to see Yonqs, so it's been pretty different.”
(Interviewer) “I see, so, which laws have effeted you the most Kyg?”
(Kyg) “Oh, well, probably the decrease in safety laws and stuff for Kangarn riding, I myself have been a Kangarn rider since I was nine, so that's been a pretty big change.”
(Interviewer) “I see, and this dear viewers, is out topic today; the highly controversial Ryen versus Kangarn when it comes to the how the goverment feels about these flying creatures, and how airship crashes with these very creatures, esspecially Kangarn's, may have something to do with it.”
(interviewer) “So, hey Grej, excactly how much has Kangarn accidents increased since the technological revolution?”
(Interviewer #2) “Almost 35 percent, it has been rapidly increasing at speeds seen never before.”
By this point Kyg figured they could probably slip away and leave, since she wasn't being asked questions and the camera had switched away from her. Kyg sighed in releif and fell away from the camera man, and went back to the Qonets she had been looking at before she had been interupted. Fresh fruit (besides Ocan's, of course) was hard to come by these days, so the Qonets were quite expensive. She bought one from the vendor, waved bye, and left to go get some rations from the GSRS. The line was extensilvely long today, reaching around a neighboring building. Another sigh. She went to the end of the line and it ever so slowly crept forward once in a while. Finally she reached the inside of the building, which, like every GSRS ever, smelled weirdly like if someone had sprayed bleach onto grain. After a bit more later someone finally called her to a desk.
“Ah, hello!” Said Kyg. “Do you have any rations ready for me?” She asked, holding out her goverment I.D pass.
“Yes, yes.” Said the fornt desk lady with a wave of her hand. She pulled out a heavy, lumpy, brown bag, which when she slammed on the table seemed to somehow crack even though it was made of fabric.
“Thank you!” Said Kyg leaving. She sat on the bench outside and peered in her bag. Uugh, they must have over-harvested again. Inside was a dozen or so mishapen Ocan's, along with a few on-the-go bags of protein powder.
Make a game where you have to navigate an alternate dimension of sorts. Here's the catch: you yourself cannot enter the dimension. Instead, you send in a machine that follows a predetermined set of commands the user inputs. You lose all contact with the machine when it enters this universe, and you can only get results/data back if the machine comes back.
Your goal is to explore this dimension, maybe trying to find something hidden within…

no clue how viable this is in scratch…

I haven't tried doing it in practice, but on paper you would use cloud variables to determine the position of the player and just plug that into a sprite that would represent the player on another player's screen.

Probably best to check out that video lol

I'm not going to give you a cientific research of why it happens, just tell you the basics. Sometimes Scratch fails to load a sprite (how I said, not going to cientific explanations) and quickly replaces it with a grey square and a black question mark. I already saw people worried about this, if this happened to you, you haven't been hacked. Reloading the page should make it disappear. Hope this helped you! If not, tell me and I might search up for another solution.

And yet this still hasn't been fixed…
It's not really a scratch bug, I think it is intended for when a costume won't load. It seems to occur when a computer has performance issues.

(I'm aware that replaying to spam is spam, but I put something else in this post too, so I figured that I might as well mention that it is spam while I'm at it)
So in the suggestions forum, there was a post that randomly, or so I think randomly, got closed without a scratch team member replying before closing like what usually happens. And I saw another one too, today.

It’s just 2 posts so I’m probably just overthinking lol, but like… why? not linking them cause it might fall under naming names, but in the second one the last reply was from a normal scratcher and they said “Sadly this might not be a good fit for scratch” or something along those lines, in the first one the last reply was from me and I was in a (civil) debate with the OP about the suggestion. Both of these posts were randomly closed without an st member replying before closing

Idk I’m a bit curious about this, lol

My friend made a movement system you can check out here:
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/697066428
Note that this is done by adding velocity (not moving the player outright) to the player in certain directions.

is star getting an alternate or is that just for the normal characters (if he is i already have a alternate star for Project: Star so we could just use that one)
No, he's not. None of the debuters are getting alternates
oh ok thats fine
Im making a tower defense but there are some bugs, the bugs are listed in the project but here they are anyway: if the towers are overlapping and the enemy is in both areas only one will work.
I might need some help with making more enemies come at once.
here is the project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/991631083/

It's difficult to know without being able to look inside your game, but in my game (shameless plug) when I made my main menu / title screen + my game over screen, I did this:

For the main menu, I used a backdrop for the non-clickable parts and external sprites as buttons.
For my game over screen (which would be similar to your level-by-level title cards) I used “when I recieve” and “show” blocks, as well as “move to front layer”. That should pretty much cover everything else on screen.

I've never used Scratchblocks before on the forums, but I'm gonna try to show you here:

when I receive [Level X Complete]
show
go to front
hide variable [whatever variables you want - lives, score, etc]

Then go into your other sprites for Level X and make scripts that go something like:

when I receive [Level X Complete]
hide

And for Level Y sprites:

when I receive [Level X Complete]
show

And so on and so forth. It seems like you've already tried this, so if it doesn't work you can just copy the parts of your project that you need help with into a new project and link that so I (and others) can see your code and try to diagnose any errors.

You know how often the filter misfires? This would be a massive pain no thanks, the way things currently are is good enough

rip tag spammers

anyway no support, I think it's a little harsh to block a user based on what gets taken down, especially when some users don't know something is against the CG/TOU
example: extension policy
I know, spammers are bad anyway.

The reason they take it down is because of safety concerns, malicious behaviour and it violates TOU. The mistake is skipping the part of the Community Guidelines or the TOU, that's why they don't realise what is not right.
read the second part of my posts , I already knew about the no tag spamming rule

In 3.0, this feature has been replaced with a hashtag system; preceding a word with a hashtag automatically creates a link to the search results for that word.
As far as I'm aware, this is all it really does, though you can learn more if you wish.
It also makes the project appear in the search results for that word and in the relevant section of the Explore Page (Animations, Art, Games, …). Including the word in the project description, without the #, has the same effect.

True, like what the hell is Lifetopia?

Some of the challenges are so unclear. I spent like an hour trying to find the hunt in Slap battles and I didn't find it. I wanna get as much of it done though which just gives me a love hate relationship with it
I know right! The Floor Is Lava's quest is absurd. I'm not waiting 8 rounds for a thing that I don't even have the guaranteed chance to get.
Well put together post for a new forumer, good job :>
Anyways, while this is a good idea, this would probably make false blocks more common and therefore more block appeals that scratch has to look through, also resulting in every blocked user to have to wait months upon months to be unblocked. Considering a lot of the strikes will be from the filter bot, things could easily go wrong. I think it’s better if the scratch team sticks to manually blocking

Please create your own topics for these.

but uh, here’s workarounds
For
<<…> and <…> and <...>::operators
You can do
<<…> and <<…> and <…>>
for
<<…> or <…> or <…>::operators
You can do
<<…> or <<…> or <…>>>
For
(join […] […] […]::operators)
You can do
(join […] (join […] […]))
1. I'm sorry.
2. I know you can do this like that but it would be really convenient if they added those
3. idk how to make a topic

1. No worries
2. A lot of things will be convenient, but when the workarounds are easy it’s just a waste of scratch’s time and resources.
3. Go to https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/1 and click “New Topic”. Keep in mind the page I linked is for the suggestions subforum, so if the topic you want to make isn’t a suggestion, go to a different subforum by navigating to scratch.mit.edu/discuss and choosing a subforum.

anyway no support, I think it's a little harsh to block a user based on what gets taken down, especially when some users don't know something is against the CG/TOU
example: extension policy
I know, spammers are bad anyway.

The reason they take it down is because of safety concerns, malicious behaviour and it violates TOU. The mistake is skipping the part of the Community Guidelines or the TOU, that's why they don't realise what is not right.

I apologize as this is a bit late, but for the april event could we do a help center for writing? Maybe people could ask for critique, help with their story, ideas, etc.?

That might be cool. Maybe though it could be called a Writing Exchange Event? Ask for critique and critique someone else's? I just think that for people to actually participate and critique, it would need to be considered more of a trade. Otherwise, people might just drop off their story and go.

nah bro just buy the cheapest laptop you can find…
I don't think this is very good advice. You'll want a laptop that fits your needs. Generally, this kind of laptop won't cut it–you'll want something more powerful than that. Unless you don't need much power at all, in which case, sure. But for a lot of tasks, this is not optimal.

My Windows laptop has a Ryzen 4800H CPU and an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU. It's mid-to-high end, sure, but that's what I need it for: coding, gaming, and the occasional 3D render.
