I'm not going to give you a cientific research of why it happens, just tell you the basics. Sometimes Scratch fails to load a sprite (how I said, not going to cientific explanations) and quickly replaces it with a grey square and a black question mark. I already saw people worried about this, if this happened to you, you haven't been hacked. Reloading the page should make it disappear. Hope this helped you! What do you mean with save? If you mean saving the project, I can tell you that it does not happen when editing projects, only when viewing projects. But I can be wrong, it only happened to me once.

I think it can happen when editing, and the question marks actually replace the costumes in the costume editor

A while ago, the ST made it so that question mark costumes don't save, so it should be safe even if you save the project (but you probably still shouldn't just to be safe).

This happens when importing big projects into Scratch, I tried and almost every sprite turned into the question mark.

It actually happened to me again, and once again while viewing a big project. Probably I never see while editing because either the page crashes or I don't do any big stuff.

happens to my sticknite game alot, you have to delete anything you recently updated and reload (this will not delete the sprite normally) and once its reloaded it will be there but most importantly delete sprites

i dont see the question marks when i play on my project on my account. it seems to not happen if i play the project if i made it.

I believe it only happens on devices with bad performance, or on highly intensive projects. It isn't common on any regular projects, (let alone featured projects) so you're most likely good.

It will not save. This has happened to me multiple times, but only when I have a weak internet connection.

It's not really a scratch bug, I think it is intended for when a costume won't load. It seems to occur when a computer has performance issues.

To the OP: This isn't a glitch. You just didn't have network or anything to load the costume at the time. Also, next time, you may want to show a photo of the glitch, so the people that haven't seen it before can. Should you close this or do you want me to request to be closed?
