That's kind of a bad reason to add something. It's a little bit entitled to tell the ST to add features otherwise you'll spam the forums…

As Maximouse has said in a recent thread it requires a single variable to be changed. I’m sure changing one variable would be a large investment risk, especially for a company such as the Scratch Foundation. The amount of money and time required to accomplish such a feat would be rather large because of the given task’s challenging nature.
To be fair maximouse has also said today that a new cat block for high contrast would have to be created and overall high contrast makes the implementation of cat blocks more tricky.

I am an iOS developer, Apple enthusiast, and web developer so I feel like I am qualified to comment on this.
First of all, the App Store guidelines do not block Scratch from making an iOS/iPadOS app. That was changed a while ago, and you can find all sorts of apps that allow coding in much more powerful languages.
And, they literally have the ScratchJr app which came out after the Scratch Viewer app was removed from the store. So the entire debate is literally null.

As for the development needed, there are several options you could take. Scratch runs as a React web app right now. React has a variant called React Native which is used for native development. It's not easy to transfer from React to RN, but it's definitely not starting from zero. There's also Cordova which, while probably not ideal, will build a native app directly from the current codebase in a few minutes. Finally, they could start from scratch (pun intended) and build a native Swift and SwiftUI app, which would be massive ordeal. The Scratch Team would probably use React Native if I had to guess.

There's no real reason why they haven't done this already other than it's not their priority. The ST could easily do this if they wanted. They probably want to do it. It just isn't a priority for them.
(Also, Scratch Team, if you're reading this, I will contribute to a native SwiftUI app if you make one!)
Read this I beg of you this is so annoying to look at just read this and get over it. The Scratch Team could make an iOS/iPadOS app at almost any time they wanted, they just need the time to do so which I'm pretty sure they do considering they can update Scratch to remove exploits in enough time where little to no one is affected.
Yeah, this thread is kind of going in circles. There's no technical or legal reason why they can't do it, they just haven't gotten around to it.
I personally think ST just doesn’t care, as Scratch is also available on the Mac App Store, plus it would be too much effort regarding how the website works just fine.

Try running the following in the editor's console (replace extensionName in the first line with the name of the extension in camelCase):
const redux = extensionName.eventTargets.tab[0].redux;
const session = redux.state.session.session;
session.flags.everything_is_totally_normal = true;
redux.dispatch({type: "SET_SESSION", session});
Would that work on all days?
Correct, it does not rely on AFD at all since there has been no changes to anything today.

Thanks to MrKingofScratch's help. This issue has been resolved. We identified that the introduction of the new cloud variable feature more than 12 days ago has altered the behavior of cloud variables. Specifically, cloud variables can no longer retrieve values stored by the last record. Instead, when a project is reloaded, it reverts to the cloud value saved at the last save point. This change impacts the functionality of high score features in Scratch projects, rendering them inoperative.

WUC Daily April 1st

──────

info!!
word count 334 words
point count 350 points

daily!!

It’s April Fool’s day! Write about an interesting time you’ve pranked your siblings in the past or today. If you haven’t had any experiences or don’t like to prank your siblings, write 250 words about what you would do to prank your siblings (or an imaginary sibling) for 250 points. An extra 100 points if you show proof.

It was finally April Fools Day. My favorite day of the year, specifically because I got to prank my brothers, CJ and Jamie.
I slid down the stairs just before 6 o’clock, in hopes to beat my brothers to everything. Last year CJ had given me a toothpaste stuffed Oreo, so it was my chance to pay him back by making him brown ‘E’s. As I cut out the paper E’s, I thought what other pranks could I do? And then the biggest idea popped in my head, I’d make fake dog poop and put it in their shoes. Perfect.
I searched up ‘fake dog poop’ recipes on Google, and the first thing that popped up was just use Nutella and water. That’d work, right? So I combined them together, with a whisk and a spoon, then put it in both of my brothers’ shoes.
I had already done two pranks, but that wasn’t enough so I decided to get a water bottle from the garage and a penny to squirt water up their eyes. I also grabbed a whoopee cushion from my room, in hopes to make them think they’ve farted as well as some ‘lovely’ smelling fart spray to spray in their rooms.
I finished laying a towel over the brownies, and a few whoopee cushions on the chairs, and just as I was about to head downstairs to my dad’s office to prank him, I felt a drop. I looked up, and a bucket of fruit punch poured all over me.
CJ and Jamie must’ve put this up there, they had beat me to April Fools. I headed upstairs to change out of my soaked clothes, and just as I was about to my brother CJ jumped out behind the corner and said a big “Boo!” I jumped up, and stared at him. Then a giggle popped out, and a few hehes. Until both of us were rolling on the floor laughing our hearts out, the day was just getting started.

Giving up so easily doesn't bode well for future tasks.

Share the project and I'm sure you'll get lots of simple solutions. I'm sure you can handle this with something along the lines of setting a pickUp variable to false at the beginning of each frame, setting it to true when something has been picked up and checking that it's false before allowing anything to be picked up.

Don't they usually do something every April Fools day, or is it just every once in a while?

I mostly make animations about undertale (or deltarune if I want to).
So, I am making series about like a Mettaton news (if you played Undertale you would know)

Now, I am not good at questions.
So I wondered if you guys wanted to have some questions (that they could answer in the animation)!
The uh animation comes out on SUNDAY so if you have any ideas , type some quick!

I will credit you guys

I wonder if my post is getting misunderstood. Of course they don't re-code the cat blocks from scratch every single time they bring them back. But the Scratch Team needs to manually make the changes that put them on the Scratch website. That is, there is nothing that enforces “If the day is April 1st, then automatically update the website to include cat blocks even if no Scratch Team member is online at the time.”

Updating the website is done manually, to my knowledge — and as has been brought up already, the code for the cat blocks already exists, so theoretically (and perhaps naïvely) it would not take that long to update the website to include them. But of course I'm not a developer, so I have no idea how much work is put into making sure the cat blocks work. It's just my understanding that the process to update them is not automatic, which is what I was initially trying to say.
