Ability to choose to get notified when someone quotes your post

It would definitely be nice if you could get notified if a user quotes one of your posts, since it's likely that they're replying to you. I find it extremely annoying that (without following the entire topic, which does spam your notifications) I can't get notified when this kind of thing happens.
How would this work?
DjangoBB already has the capability of sending notifications (likely via a webhook) since you get them when you follow a topic. This notification would be pushed to the relevant user when the system sees [quote=x] in a user's post, where x is the username to push these notifications to. The exception to this idea is when the user's being quoted in a nested manner (a quote within a quote), since in that case the user isn't being directly replied to.
What negative consequences could come of this?
This could very easily become more taxing on an already poorly written forum software, so I find that this should be investigated. One way to investigate how taxing this feature is, is to start rolling out new features to percentages of random people, and increasing the percentage as time goes on. Other platforms do this, and I feel that it's a different approach that Scratch could take, although I feel like I'm digressing from the original idea.
How would this benefit the community?
I don't know about you, but I would rather prefer not having to eagerly check a forum/topic to see whether someone's replied to me. Think of this as “comment reply” notifications but for the forums.
Whatcha think?

9.2 Notification for being quoted in topicsDue to the way that the forum structure works, this suggestion simply is not possible to add. Even if it was possible, there would be a very high possibility of getting spammed with unwanted notifications. The technical issues and the potential for abuse make this feature rather impractical. If you want to stay updated on a certain topic, you can always follow the topic and get notified for new posts that are made.

(#2)thought i was well-versed with tolors lol

but how would it give a potential for abuse, i wonder? isn't there the 60-second rule? aren't comments an avenue for abuse?
EDIT: and how's it technically impossible?
EDIT 2: i also mentioned how it's only an ability, not a requirement. if you don't want those notifications, they can be turned off

I feel like even if it was possible it’d still be rejected because it’s pretty much the same as the notification for being pinged in comments which was also rejected due to potential spam. However maybe if it was possible, it wouldn’t be rejected if it was optional.(#2)thought i was well-versed with tolors lol

Also, I don’t know how it’s technically impossible, because I’m not the scratch team and I’m certainly not smart lol
(#4)understandable, this is a subject that i would love to do some war gaming on, either with the st (preferably, even if it's someone like paddle) or another user who's well versed in the technical side of the forums/scratch

You should probably ask paddle on his latest project, or jvvg maybe cause I believe he works in computer science and maybe knows about this stuff(#4)understandable, this is a subject that i would love to do some war gaming on, either with the st (preferably, even if it's someone like paddle) or another user who's well versed in the technical side of the forums/scratch

then again i think he did mention one of the inefficiencies of djangobb

This is getting off topic lol, you can continue the discussion on my profile if you like (in my comments you’ll find a link to a studio where you can comment since my comments are closed)(#6)i don't think jvvg works with python (or djangobb) much…You should probably ask paddle on his latest project, or jvvg maybe cause I believe he works in computer science and maybe knows about this stuff(#4)understandable, this is a subject that i would love to do some war gaming on, either with the st (preferably, even if it's someone like paddle) or another user who's well versed in the technical side of the forums/scratch
