well I guess it would be VERY expensive I did really want good 3D graphics.
3D would make it look worse. Again, they don't have many resources and are simply a website and coding languange to assist young people learn.
Making a 2D Cartoon would be better for Scratch, but a cartoon for a code languange? That just sounds weird. Not to think with 3D Graphics incase you haven't seen nowadays' bad writing, creating a Scratch Cat in 3D would be an absolute pain.
They wouldn't be able to start it as Scratch runs off of Donations. They cannot simply start making some Cartoon. They'd lose all their finance and go bankrupt, effectively shutting down Scratch as a website.
This is what I'm saying here.
1. Who said 3D would make it worse? u need citation!
2.Everything you said is your own personal opinon…
3. Noone said you need lots of money to make a movie, look at Ian Hubert

MMAP April 7th: “Canary in a coal mine”
TWs: mentions of imprisonment/poison/gas/death

As they lower the cage, a lilting voice floats up from the hole, just audible over the clinking of the chains.

Pretty bird fly away…

Everything seems to fall silent even the clinking as the men operating it pause as if entranced- everything save the soft moan of wind and creak of the boards. Then she really starts to sing.

I’m the canary in the coal mine
Sacrificing for the rest
Breathing in the air
And hoping for the best
The best
The best.

They knew that it could kill me
But I’m their warning sign
I know that it might end me
But at least they will be fine.

I feel that I recognize the tune, but I can’t recall where from. It hangs like the memory of a dream at the edge of my consciousness, where my fingers can brush it but I just can’t catch hold.

I’m the canary in the coal mine
Wondering if it’s my last day
Breathing in the dust
I want to fly away
Fly away
Fly away.

Then a soft sound joins the melody. Someone whistling along. And I remember where I’ve heard this song.

They knew that it could kill me
But I’m their warning sign
I know that it might end me
But at least they will be fine.

Esca is sitting on the roof of the shed, eyes closed, his blonde hair ruffling in the wind. Some are turning to stare up at him, but most still seem entranced by her voice.

I’m the canary in the coal mine
With much too little room
Breathing in the poison
Preparing for my doom
My doom
My doom.

That’s when Burgen finally snaps out of it. “Stop that racket at once!” He yells. Esca doesn’t even flinch. Most of the workers seem unchanged. He stares around as if stunned that his order wasn’t immediately obeyed.

They knew that it could kill me
But I’m their warning sign
I know that it might end me
But at least they will be fine.

Burgen storms over to the mechanism, and bellows “Keep lowering!” and the workers holding the chain finally unfreeze. The clinking resumes as she continues to sing.

I’m the canary in the coal mine
Running out of breath
Breathing in the gas
And waiting for my death
My death
My death.

Burgen proceeds to stomp over to the shed, where Esca’s still whistling. I start pushing through people and towards them. “Shut it!” Burgen yells at the boy. He doesn’t react. Burgen reaches up to grab his boot, but is comically short. “Get him down!” Burgen orders two men, who start to climb the ladder.

They knew that it could kill me
But I’m their warning sign
I know that it might end me
But at least they will be fine.

Esca yelps as they push him off the roof, his whistling cutting off. I get there too late to catch him and he slams into the ground. I drop to one knee beside him and he blinks up at me. Just winded.

Pretty bird fly away….

She sings.

“Don’t,” I whisper. He takes a deep breath and finishes with her.

Pretty bird fly away
Or you won’t live another day.

It appears to be a bug rather than a coding issue. Was it backpacked from another project or a different sprite?

I managed to fix it by deleting these

Websites often emphasize using “person-first” language, especially in the medical field. However, I've repeatedly asked to be referred to using “identity-first” language, which is preferred by many autistic people. This shows how the medical system and supporting organizations still have progress to make.

Being disabled means facing disadvantages due to how your body works, not something inherently bad. For example, I'm autistic, which means I face unique challenges because I'm a neuro-minority. These challenges come from the world around me, not from being autistic itself.

Using “identity-first” language like “I am disabled” is affirming for many of us, acknowledging it as part of who we are. It's like saying “I am female” or “I am left-handed.” It's important to recognize that disabilities are not problems but facts about ourselves.

On the other hand, mental health conditions like anxiety might fit the medical model of disability better, where treatment can be helpful. However, needing support and accommodations doesn't mean we have a problem; it's about living our unique lives.
I think this misses out some important details, but it's up to you if you want to read it or not.

I'm not sure how you'd test it. Suppose that you make a project, tag spam on it, and then it gets popular. How would you be able to tell that it was the tag spamming that made it popular? Maybe it was just a really good project.
Compare the growth speed to another “control” project, both projects would be the same, but one would use 1 of each tag and the other would spam tags. Repeating this multiple times to make sure that it's the tag Spamming causing the faster growth.

You could test it by making the actual project just a test and nothing of good quality (or better yet, assume it is real)
It would be better to use a full project, maybe a generic platformer simple game, as it would be more likely to get on trending, because a generic platformer Simple game would probably be liked more than a blank screen, which would make it easier to spot differences in growth speed.

The thing I’m mainly worried about is that I’d get banned for it.
It's not possible to be banned for tag spamming [citation needed], it's not allowed, yes, but it's not bannable. The worst case is the project being taken down and a temporary block. Even that is unlikely, it's possible that the project is taken down, but the block is unlikely.

CST1229 wrote:

It is most likely real.
If any of this was confirmed by the ST, it would mean that tag Spamming is a functional exploit. To add to this ;

Paddle2See wrote:

Yeah, that's a bit of an abuse of the system that will eventually make it useless if it continues. It's also against the Community Guidelines - the part about “being honest”. Furthermore, it's also against the Terms of Use - the part that talks about interfering with the service (3.5). So feel free to link anybody you see doing that to this topic so they become better educated. You may also use the Report button and explain that they are abusing tags.

(source)
Based on this, tag spamming is most likely a functional exploit.

Yes, I don't see adacraft as a social network. More as a creative place. So traditional social features might not land in adacraft. Moreover, some have drawbacks. For example, with the classical follow feature, a drawback is that sometime people seek follow for the sake of it (also known as F4F). I'd like to avoid this, and concentrate on creative features. Especially because the development team is small and we don't have enough time.

But, if people join the dev team, and if we can find cool “social” features that serve the creative purpose of adacraft, why not? As an example, I once thought about a kind of hidden follow feature. I.e. you can follow someone to know about their creative activities, but the number of follows doesn't appear on their profile.

Felt that I should make a workaround, even if it's difficult (although the suggestion isn't much easier to understand :P) [this is only for directly at the center]
define am i pointing towards sprite (sprite)?
set [pointing towards v] to <(([atan v] of ((([x position v] of (sprite)) - (x position)) / (([y position v] of (sprite)) - (y position)))) + ((180) * <(([y position v] of (sprite)) - (y position)) < (0)>)) = (direction)>

define is sprite (sprite) pointing towards sprite (sprite2)
set [pointing towards v] to <(([atan v] of ((([x position v] of (sprite2)) - ([x position v] of (sprite))) / (([y position v] of (sprite2)) - ([y position v] of (sprite))))) + ((180) * <(([y position v] of (sprite2)) - ([y position v] of (sprite))) < (0)>)) = ([direction v] of (sprite))>
shift + right arrow to see entire script. Also, pointing directly towards the center is slightly ambiguous, as would it have to be directly at the center, or a rounded range? The direction can be in decimals, but its not always precise.

I could make a workaround for the other part (any) although it would simply be out of scope for a scratchblocks that i can make on the fly.

This is a project with the scripts provided so you don't have to copy this forum post if you want them :P
[In the project i used round blocks to give a small amount of leniency.]

Also, the workaround above works with clones, but you'll have to have the clone's x and y position in a list if you're going to point at another clone. For non clones, a simpler workaround is available (only for the first block, second block stays the same.):
define am i pointing towards sprite (sprite)? \(simplified)
set [old dir v] to (direction)
point towards (sprite)
set [pointing towards v] to <(old dir) = (direction)>
point in direction (old dir)

That… makes sense.

I didn't see any reason why this wouldn't work so I replicated it and it works fine for me. Do you think you'd mind sharing the project or sending a screenshot of the code that isn't working?

like lets say this is the screen of the project <> and >< are sprites:

as you can see, technically <> will always be facing >< because as long as its showing, to the thing that detects it, itll always think its facing it, right?
I see how that can be confusing–but in this case they would not technically be facing each other. I'll clear this up a bit.

Let's assume both of them are pointing towards the default 90 degrees and draw a line at their rotations. It would look like this:

<>—————————————

><—————————————–

<>'s line does not touch >< or its center (depending on the use case) so the boolean would return false.

Now let's move >< below <> and rotate <> 90 degrees clockwise, for a total of 180 degrees:

><

As its line of “vision” passes through ><, the boolean would return true if set to “any.”

I guess that makes the block a bit more complicated, but I still think it'd be a nice thing to have. Thanks for bringing that up and I hope that clears the confusion!
Oh, i was actually really confused about this, thanks for explaining!

in this case, this seems like a good idea but what could be the uses for this? /genq

people who read announcements are mature enough (usually) to not be racist
Funny enough, most of the time the racism I've experienced are from those fandom obsessed, SJW-ish (I am a leftist but just sayin) users who would always advocate for LGBTQIA+. So I am pretty sure those users would read Scratch's announcements. Especially for those regarding BHM and Pride Month, yet they still act racist.

TL;DR: Announcements aren't really effective.
For me (an atheist), the people who offend me are the people who say that you can't say Merry Christmas, BC, etc, not the people who say Merry Christmas and stuff like that. Also, I look younger than I actually am (I mean as in height and weight and appearance [I have the height and weight of someone around 10-11 even though I have been on the internet for 15 years]) but same thing for stuff like “the m word” (that's actually a thing, and if you do not know, if you search m word little people you will understand). Though I'm “neurotypical” (well, according to what people have said here).
Though I do worry about my appearance because of how I look, I mean the fact that people might think I'm super young or something in certain cases. Imagine getting into a programming job, and then at a computer, you see someone who looks like a girl that hasn't even started high school LOL
Edit: also I have been trying to fix my weight and height, so yea.

I recommend that instead of the post not going through, it just has a pop up that it might be a necropost but it still lets you post. It would be a heads up for new forumers
I think this is the best possible implementation of the suggestion, since it doesn't shut down actually constructive posts on old threads and would help prevent actual necroposts more efficiently.
exactly. also, i think the popup should also have a brief description of what a necropost is as well.
lyrics:

I'm two days into college
And I'm three lectures behind
There's this guy, let's name him Colin
He says he wants to be mine
But it doesn't really sit with me quite right
'Cause he doesn't really like the things I like
And I keep accidentally locking myself out of my dorm
In the middle of the night

I wake up kinda wired
And I wake up kinda cold
And I wake up kinda tired
But I'll just sleep in when I'm old
See, I don't like breaking rules
But don't like doing as I'm told
So, I just float around and keep my head down
And hope my life unfolds

And еverybody's telling me that I'm doing so wеll
I try to trust them, honestly
I find it hard to tell
If I need work or I need rest
I try my best to try my best
I tell myself, I say out loud
“It's fine, I'll figure it all out”
I tend to forget
I'm still only quite young
In a way this life of mine has only just begun

I've got time
I've got time

I'm two days into college
With a busy, busy mind
That guy that we named Colin
He's so handsome, he's so kind
My friends tell me I'm crazy
Say I take it way too far
'Cause I told him that it's over
'Cause he doesn't play guitar

I'm only two days into college
And my bedroom is a mess
There's just so much that I want to do
That I have not done yet
There's just so much that I want to say
And far too little breath
Oh, my mind it runs so far away
It's easy to forget

That to everybody else it looks like I'm doing so well
I try to see it, honestly
I find it hard to tell
If I've done wrong or I've done right
I need a good night's sleep tonight
They said, “Go out,” I said, “Alright”
I think I won't, I maybe might
I probably should just take it slow
I'll be all good
But, God, I know

The one thing that's important above everything else
Is to learn not to put all this heavy pressure on myself
I try believe it when I say
“If it's meant to happen, it'll happen anyway
I'll be fine”

I've got time
I've got time
That's where I'm at, to be honest
Just two days
Two days into college

Forcing potential necroposts to not go through would make dupe finding practically useless and result in a lot of the same topics, causing more clutter and confusion on which thread to actually discuss things like suggestions in. Plus, if implemented like that, wouldn't it make more sense to just close the topic after a set amount of time without messages? Either way, constantly having dupes and old insights forgotten through repeats of the same thing wouldn't go very well.

A new blocks suggestion - the Compress Block

It will convert a number into its abbreviation

EXAMPLES

If you input 12759363, it will output 12 million

If you input 4567876354526, it will output 4 trillion

If you just input a small number like 145, it will just output the same number

If the result has 3 numbers in front like: 476 million, it would instead show 476m, otherwise just the regular result

Other Names

maybe it could even be called Abbreviation of number Block or Shorten number Block

It could be used for games using large numbers, especially clickers.

Not only is this question coming completely out of the blue and would be odd to say the least, it could be quite rude to someone if you just make the topic of the conversation about a thing they have that they might not even want in the first place. If everyone asked what they preferred, this could get annoying and stressful to the user that all of the conversations they have are being shifted to the disability they have. Having people ask is easier said than done.
alternatively, you could refer to them how you think they'd prefer (you could notice how they refer to themselves and mirror that or just guess), and if they correct you, use that, otherwise carry on. if you were asking you'd probably already have a reason to refer to them with that language (so you or they probably would have brought up the disability beforehand so you'd both be fine talking about it), otherwise you probably wouldn't be interested in knowing.
or you could just not ask anyone, if that's something you find hard.

^ personally I wouldn't have a problem with this kind of question (I've been asked stranger things), but maybe other people would find it different. I personally like being asked my preferences because it shows people care about my identity. even if they word the question a bit wrong or randomly, it gives me an opportunity to open up about it. if I'm not in the mood, I could either just ghost them, redirect the conversation or I could say I'm not comfortable answering. whatever happens, no significant harm is done? I don't think? what do you think?

Funny enough, most of the time the racism I've experienced are from those fandom obsessed, SJW-ish (I am a leftist but just sayin) users who would always advocate for LGBTQIA+. So I am pretty sure those users would read Scratch's announcements. Especially for those regarding BHM and Pride Month, yet they still act racist.

TL;DR: Announcements aren't really effective.

Support, we should add all the emojis. Personally It would add a cool flare to the site.

☾ hi there, i’m blackout, an aroace high schooler who loves poetry and the stars !! i am so excited to present to you my application for the lovely hydrangeakit, THE GODDESS OF TIME !! there is no particular reason for the application’s name, i wanted something regal and related to time, so i chose THE GODDESS OF TIME. don’t worry, it’s not something religious or anything !!

☾ i love music, as well as ranting about it to anyone who'll listen ! my favorite genres are classical, country, and pop !! i love miracle musical, and if you know them PLEASE TELL ME so we can vent about how underrated they are !!

☾ i spend my time reading, writing, baking, drawing, and roleplaying !! my favorite book genres are fantasy, poetry, sci-fi, and really any other type of fiction !! my favorite nonfiction books are the ones on astrology, algebra, and rocks / minerals ! i enjoy writing fantasy stories, as i am a big daydreamer ! i like baking cookies, cakes, brownies, you name it !! baking is just really fun for me and a great escape from reality !! drawing is another big passion of mine, and although i don't post most of my art on scratch, i stil draw every day !! and i saved the best for last : roleplaying !! i absolutely love roleplaying, and have been doing it for four out of the five months i have been on scratch. i have also been roleplaying for 6+ years offsite, with friends and family irl !!

☾ i love poetry !! i enjoy reading it, and writing it, although i'm not the best, lol. i enjoy haikus and poems that don’t rhyme !! i used to write poetry a lot when i was younger, and although i don’t write it as much now due to school work and roleplaying, reading poetry is still a bright spot in my day !!

☾ i love space, as well as studying planets and the stars !! i enjoy learning about constellations and the stars, as well as galaxies and nebulas !! supernovas and white holes or black holes are also a spot of interest for me !! i like looking at picture / photos of formations in space. another amazing space topic i like looking at or talking about are the pillars of creation !! they are beautiful and actually exploded a long time ago, but since it is millions of light years away, we won't see it for a very long time.

and that’s all !! on to the application !!

the HOW in hydrangeakit’s personality

when i first looked at angie, i saw what probably most people saw : a sweet, shy cat, probably empathetic as well. but then i thought : why should she have to be like her appearance ? she shouldn’t. she should have a personality based on her not what she looks like.

As I hope several are well aware, the suggestion for a boolean block that detects whether a sprite is pointing towards another sprite is rejected.

Za-Chary wrote:

(#1)
1.3 “Pointing towards sprite” boolean block
This in theory would allow a sprite to detect if it is pointing towards another sprite, but there is ambiguity on how this would work. Would it return true if the sprite is pointing in any general direction towards another sprite, or strictly at the center of that sprite? This depends on your intended function of the block, at which point you may consider implementing your own workaround.

<pointing towards [sprite v]? :: sensing>
However, given the potential of the block, I don't think the idea should be given up. I can think of several use cases in a game I'm working on in which it would help cut down the amount of code use a lot. It'd be such a versatile tool to have.

If you have a look at the above quote from TOLORS, its reason for rejection is the ambiguity of how it would work. So why not have the two different possibilities? Here is my proposed solution:
<[Sprite v] is facing [center v] of [Sprite v]? :: sensing>
Or alternatively:
<[Myself v] is facing [any v] of [Sprite v]? :: sensing>
Note that as opposed to “pointing towards” I opted for “is facing” to shorten the block's length. “Myself” is also an option for it to work with clones.
While some complicated workarounds for the block exist, it's not simple enough to justify throwing out the idea for that alone either. There are several use cases in which it would be very great to have, and there are many cases where the workarounds I can think of wouldn't be very great.

Either way, I think it would be great to once more discuss the possibility of a block like this being added to Scratch.

Edit 1:

Forgot to mention another possibility:
<[Sprite v] is facing [center v] of [Mouse pointer v] ?::sensing>

Although strange, this is intentional and is just how Scratch manages scripts.

Scratch only progresses through code 30 times per second while the project is running (which is the same as the stage's refresh rate). That means if your project has things that are updating the screen (like moving sprites) and something makes a script pause until something happens or for a certain amount of time, that script can only resume the next 30th of a second, so, for example, a wait time of 0.08 s would get increased to 0.1 s.

Basically, wait n seconds, wait until, repeat n, etc. can only continue before each screen refresh, which means you can only wait for time in increments of 1/30 seconds.

Additionally, any following blocks that pause execution are only initiated after they are activated. If you have a bunch of blocks that you set to wait for 0.08 s, and they all actually wait 0.1 s because of the aforementioned behavior, each block ends up having to wait an extra 0.02 s before it will run, adding 0.02 s of extra time per wait block onto the script's procedure.

And that's all assuming everything stays perfectly consistent. Often, intensive processes that slow down your project will throw it off even more.

Did I explain that okay?

If you want to keep the rhythm together even if the timing of your code becomes offset due to this behavior, one thing to try is keeping track of time yourself. I also made a Music extension framework called SongBlocks for this purpose if you don't want to do the hard work. Any solution won't solve the problem entirely, but music made with SongBlocks will catch up as needed, in order to keep the music as in-sync as possible.

Oh my goodness gracious
We need a post for every country, religion, disabilities, fandoms, genders, orientations, etc. because they might face harassment!!!11!!1!!

I’m not autistic (i don’t know i haven’t and will probably never get a diagnosis) so this may be based a bit ☠️
If they receive harassment, the report button exists, and the community will beat up that guy. Trust me
And doesn’t it fall under a line in the CGs like upper posts mentioned?
But many autistic people do face harrasement. And according to cheddargirl's post, groups that face harrasement deserve a forum post.
I am a Chinese person who faced multiple instances of racism or borderline racism on Scratch.
Where is my forum post then.
not here because the scratch team may have not seen all of the harassment, or they just don't think a forum post is a good solution. people who read announcements are mature enough (usually) to not be racist
