Why has there been 0 communication from the ST if AFD is on this year

I dont even really mind the answer but this 0 communication is extremely concerning. A last minute announcement announcing bad news so less backlash happens? We know thats not the way to handle difficult changes as seen with the studio update?

as far as i know, there was no communication from the scratch team last year about april fools' day either. (count that as a bonus hint, people who are trying to guess my main account)

also, the only way that it would be a “difficult change” would be if they completely banned it, so they wouldn't need a way to handle difficult change if it isn't difficult change. (does this make sense?)

As your signature indicates, April Fools' day is a privilege. The lack of them specifically allowing it should be interpreted as them not allowing it at all. After the past few years it is clear that they aren't super happy about the idea of April Fools' Day since it has gotten out of hand and massively increased the workload of an already thinly stretched moderation team. As for why they haven't said anything, I can't say for sure, but it might be the reason you indicate (as backlash also adds to the moderation work). Or they might not have made a decision yet.

Perhaps they just don't have an answer yet.
No answer means that we do it pre-April-Fools-subforum style.

No it doesn't. No answer means it's not allowed. April Fools' Day is something that they have tolerated in the past, but it's still a violation of the rules if they don't explicitly allow it, even if they can't or don't enforce it.
They probably either haven't decided or aren't doing it. Paddle might respond if you ask him, though.

I think they were joking

Well considering how they've allowed it in the past… I don't think people are gonna realize..

2 possibilities

1.
They're cooking something up (which is likely far too optimistic to be a possibility)

Or

Yes, it is a privilege and I don’t even mind what the answer is, but they have to communicate to the community over these things. We should have got an answer by now when there is 2 days left to March 31st which when it’s begun since 2020. Interpreting no answer as not allowed isn’t the way - we need an answer as other users won’t know this and will create AFD posts anyway.
It doesn't have to be on the bad side too. They could have a golden one for us and want it to be a surprise.

It’s 3 days away and they could say that as I’ve reported this topic numerous times asking for an answer. Anything will do!

it's unlikely that there is going to be a big april fools effort this year. the scratch foundation went through/is in the process of dealing with big changes that have left them with limited resources, that are unfortunately better spent outside of fun stuff like AFD.

Of course, I don’t mind if the answer is no (you can read my thoughts on AFD on this essay I made here but some communication is needed, even if the answer is “we haven’t decided”

I wish…
In my opinion, the reason there wasn't anything new next year was funding (though this is just a theory, I have nothing to back it up).

“there wasn’t anything new next year”. What?
Anyway, if you don’t have any evidence to back it up, then why post?
Well we have an answer lads now, check announcements.
