im saying that when you use the eraser tool in the costumes editor or whatever it is, it doesnt allow you to erase the text the way you could with the other types of drawings made in the costumes editor

No, the OP means if you have a text saying:

this imaginary text we're using as an example wrote:

nlewfniowefioewifowib

and you erased “fioew”,
you'd have:

thie new imaginary text we're using as an example wrote:

nlewfniowe ifowib

A way to do this is convert to bitmap, then convert back to vector.
