Yeah, I think that's the best idea.
I think that we should focus less on the time periods thing and more on the theme of the realms themselves, the desert can be like a steampunk industrial place and the ocean can futuristic for asthetic purposes to set it apart from the other realms, and the forest can be medieval.

We dont have to focus on the time period at all to do with the realm, but it could add some cool mechanics where if you change one thing in the forest (past) it effects the ocean (future)

OH YEAH! So the player has to complete one realm to unlock the other!

Game developing time! They can start in the forest, (past) and work their way to the desert (present-ish) and then go to the ocean (future). After they unlock all three, they can freely move throughout them. They can also go back to any of the unlocked ones if they are trying to get to the next one.
EXAMPLE:
The player is currently in the desert, and trying to unlock the ocean. They go back to the forest to get some sort of clue that will help unlock the ocean. After they unlock the ocean, they go back to some key place in the desert and figure out how to get to the fourth realm. Note: that doesn't have to be what happens, just an example. It also shouldn't take too long, since the game mainly focuses on the fourth realm. There should be some auto-saving, too, because it seems this game will take a while.

unfortunately, due to the limits of cloud variables, this isn't really possible, but we can still add a save system
(yes autosaving can be added, but for only like 20 - 30 players at most depending on how many variables would need to be saved)
And also, i think their actions in the forest should affect the desert, and actions in the desert and forest affect the ocean, that's not really a necessary addition, but it would be cool!

With this feature, we could add endless replay value.

would we hard code this in, or should i use some lists algorithms to calculate what should happen based off of each action (apart from the story line) should do?

Do you guys want a coding thread so as not to clog up the main or story writing…?

I'm not a coder for this game, but a list seems logical.
when I receive [an action by the player v]
add [outcome] to [list of outcomes v]

when I receive [enter forest realm v]
if <[list of outcomes v] contains [a certain result] ?> then
broadcast [change something in the forest realm v]
add [forest realm change 1] to [list of outcomes v]
end

Well, as long as there’s a saving feature, I guess.

I did find something that might help with autosaving, but it isn't reliable yet.

There is no need for another topic, just use the main one for everything except writing, the only reason writing got their own topic is because writing discussion uses a lot of posts

Hello guys! Please make a list of all the art needed when you're ready!

prishaJuni wrote:

I'm guessing we'll need a main character, king ‘Jonathan,’ and the twin. Maybe some features for each realm? (like lava rocks for the fire realm, coral for the water, and trees for the jungle.)

The main character needs a name and a (customizable?) appearance. I'm thinking about this character being a boy, if that's fine with everyone. Maybe we could make the gender customizable.

I support the mc being a boy to make things easier. Do you guys want the character customization/selection screen pixelized or just regular?

If there is a customisable appearencem then there should probably be a customisably gender. Also, I think that the style is pixels, so pixels.

Okay! We have a LOT to do!
Here's what we have so far:

- Three realms (fourth is hidden until all three are completed)
- King _______ (NAMES PLEASE) has become corrupt by the power of the Tablet of Truth, and now people fear his merciless rule
- Player (Name?) must find missing sister and with her help overthrow King _______(WE NEED NAMES!)
- After fighting the three generals of the three realms, Player finds out that she is imprisoned in the fourth realm's prison
- Player tries to free her without alerting King _______ and fails, boss battle

Realms:
- Burning Badlands (Industrial present theme?)
- Mammoth Grove (Ancient magic-y forest theme)
- Deepsea Dominion (Super high-tech futuristic aesthetics)
- Obscuria (Mysterious darkness)

Art Needed:
- A base (for both genders) - I think the same artist should draw the twin
- Hairstyles (Maybe?)
- Different color eyes, skin, and hair
- Scenes for each realm (We need to do more on this area)
- Generals (Bosses) How do they look?
- King _______ How does he look?
- Twin sister

A lot of people seem to want a different name for the king.

Since I came up with that idea, here are some names:

King Agham
King Angon
King Winfred
King Elton
King Grant

Mirelle is just.. simple, pretty, and elegant. And also kinda fits the “fantasy”. It's not generic either…

But maybe… since the mc's name is customizable, maybe it could be the twin's name.
