Please note that the original one was made by Crimson19. They deleted their account and the information was outdated so I received permission from Paddle2See to make a new replacement. You can find the old one here!
Anyways, I present:
Before you begin
You should find out more about shops by checking out this first. It tells you a little about what shops are. Also, if you have any questions this isn’t the best place to ask, and if you want to make a request this isn’t a great place either. So- you want to order? You have two options. You can make your own topic asking for it or you can ask a shop (recommended).
Making requests at shops
Making your order
This is undoubtedly one of the most important parts. You must make sure you fill out any forms appropriately. Just remember, they are there to make it easier for YOUR order to be completed. Here are a few tips:
While you’re waiting for your order
When your order comes
Drafting your request
Awaiting your request
Receiving your request
Thanks for reading!
I hope it helped! Let me know if any errors or things I could add. Until next time!

Making requests at shops
Making your order
This is undoubtedly one of the most important parts. You must make sure you fill out any forms appropriately. Just remember, they are there to make it easier for YOUR order to be completed. Here are a few tips:
- Remember timezones when setting a time limit. It’s also good to think: would you be able to do it in that amount of time?
- Don’t ask for anything too complicated
- Look for a good-quality Shop! While larger shops like The Space Shop or The Dream Shop are very trustworthy and reliable I find that orders at them can get drowned down. While they do provide more examples, which can be useful I may also note that smaller shops usually have more dedicated members who want to advance their shop. I recommend looking at the newest Shop Directory if you want to find a good shop.
- Be specific. You can only blame yourself if you receive a white sheep when you actually wanted a black sheep, but didn’t specify it in the order form
- Ordering at multiple shops is a good idea however be sure to let them know in the order form so they are not disappointed if you don’t use it
- Be polite. They are doing a service. I know from experience that a simple ‘please’ can make me much more happy to complete the order.
While you’re waiting for your order
- Don’t beg for faster service. This makes shop members unhappy.
- Don’t rush them. If it is one day late then that is still ok!
- If your order has still not been taken and is getting drowned bump it up by quoting it.
- Don’t change it. It can be very annoying for shop members to have last-minute changes, and they may rush the changes because they feel annoyed.
When your order comes
- Be constructive! Don’t completely disown any orders you don’t like, give feedback and even ask for it to be improved with a few tips!
- Say ‘Thank You’. Trust me, it makes a shop member’s day.
- Happy with your order? Why not join them, and help more people!
- Order again! Simply bookmarking them for next time you need something can be useful next time you need something, it reduces the stress of finding a shop. Remember that shops may become inactive or close in the meantime, so check the last post date before re-ordering!
- Recommend it to others! Let them learn about the great things the shop can do! Always remember, don’t advertise them in projects or profiles unless you know the person well and they allow it.
Drafting your request
- First, create a new topic. You can do this by pressing the blue button while in the requests forum. You can see it here:
- Alternatively, you can click this link for your convenience.
- Now choose a good title. A bad example would look like ‘I need stuff’. It makes people not know what you want, and therefore not knowing whether it is something they are good at. A better example might be ‘Pixelated profile icon with shadow effect needed’. It specifies what you want and people can see whether they are good at the specific thing.
- Now make a good description. Be sure to be specific, and tell them everything down to the pixel. Do NOT make it too complicated, as nobody will respond if you do. A well set out description is in-depth, uses paragraphs and tells people exactly what you want it to look like and when you would like it by.
- Now post your topic! Remember to check for spelling and grammar mistakes before posting, especially if you are a new scratcher and cannot edit posts.
Awaiting your request
- BUMP! Post this every few days, never more often than once every 24 hours. It stands for ‘Bring Up My Post’, which it is essentially doing.
- Answer questions people have about the request
- Be polite and do not beg for people to do things
Receiving your request
- Generally saying thank you and following them is a good place to start. That way you can show your appreciation to them!
- Any constructive criticism is good as well, and tell them if you want anything fixed up.
- If 24 hours have passed since you created the topic you can click the ‘Close Topic’ button so that nobody spams or necroposts in it, but you cannot reopen it easily so be careful. Note: this only works if you’re a scratcher.
- Scratch on!
