It is of my professional opinion that it would be a tie.

Not chatting or anything, just singular words the user can type that matches a whitelist, and a single word response from other players (that go with the game, not literal responses). Would cloud-based vocabulary games with whitelists be allowed on scratch?

Critique for @1lMaM

Helloooo - some general comments! First off, I absolutely love the worldbuilding of your piece it's super original and really well-done! Admittedly sometimes I got a bit of whiplash because of the real-fi elements of the story contrasted a bit weirdly with the fantasy ones (like the image of a dishwasher in the same world as a Magician's Union and a queen is a bit strange personally), but in general it was blended very well and it was fun to read. Everything was really consistent too, and the backstory that Nick gave was a cool addition to what you had prior to when he shows up!
The pacing and flow of the part worked really well too :> there wasn't really any confusion involved for me in the way that the plot proceeded.

Wait, who's John? :'D I'd assume that he's the man that the walls were talking about first, but it would've been a bit better to name him ahaha - also, the walls kinda forget all about him after Julia's mom talked to her, which I thought was a bit abrupt?

I found it a bit weird how her mom (sorry, American moment :p) was so casual about her going off into who-knows-where on her own - like I can see that she's a very laid-back parent but that's pushing it a bit xD also, was Julia just not worried about her mom? Since she was sure that the suburbs would be raided, at least she could've made arrangements or pushed harder for her mom to do something :0

I love the idea of this story! Everything, from everyday items being able to chat with Julia, the whole premise– ah, I love stories like these! Since I want to get this out quickly for you so you can finish the weekly soon, I only did most of Part 1, hope that’s okay! A few general things:

For when Julia speaks to items, I’d suggest that you use italics inside of commas, such as this: “insert speech here,” since it’s very confusing for me, as the reader, to understand what Julia means when she’s conversing with, say, the wall or the handles. A lot of times during the piece, I would get confused when regular narration turned into dialogue, which is one of the main reasons I’m suggesting you do this ^^

I think you should work on appropriate reactions, specifically in dialogue. There are a few parts I will point out in the following critique where I will mention reactions.

Now, with that aside, let’s get into it!

It gives me more exciting memories than I’ve had myself.

The wording here is a little awkward. I’d suggest saying something like “the memories that it possesses is a million times more exciting than anything I have”

My mind focuses more. It’s never told me about John before.

Unless this is explained later, how does Julia know John’s memories? I’d suggest clarifying who John is in terms of a relationship with Julia.

This is a little confusing to me. Please clarify or reword this sentence!

This too is confusing for me. Who is “they” – the protestors? The bystanders being injured?

Magic was never something I found interesting, even when I was a child, even when I found out citizens used to have it.

Why isn’t it interesting? Does she just not care, or is there some kind of deeper reason here?

This is also confusing. You should rewrite it to something like: “How do you know?” And the response should be: “Just listen to the radio.”, or something like that.

I just wanted to say I really liked this part.

“Thanks, Mum. I think we should leave, at least until the riot stops.”

This is a very abrupt request. Imagine that you hear there’s a riot going on, and your kid somehow knows about it. And all of a sudden she says “we should leave”. Your first reaction wouldn’t be “where would we go?”, you would probably be skeptical that you would need to leave, first. Also, Julia probably wouldn’t just suddenly say: “we should leave”. Perhaps she hesitates or says it slowly, which would make more sense in the scenario.

“Okay.”

Again, she should have a little more of a reaction. Wouldn’t she verbally resist a little more? After all, according to the objects, this could be life-or-death.

Conclusion: Great story! Just make sure to keep an eye out for the things I listed earlier <3

i semi-agree. i think it's amazing in that it feels like it's a whole game at first, but the massive difficulty spike towards the end ruins the fun. if the entire level was like an open world game, not just the first 15 minutes, then it'd be mythic worthy in my opinion.

if i had to choose, i'd say it gets legendary at best.

Exactly what the title says. I think we should go back to the 2.0-era restriction of only being able to add 3 tags at a time to a project. I'm sick of going to “explore” for music and having a bunch of random games that happen to have background music that's not actually by the creator of the project. A limit of 3 tags would force users to be thoughtful about what the main focus of their project actually is without limiting it to just one. This would allow music and art-related projects to be more easily shared and explored by fellow users. It would also probably help ease the load on the Scratch servers on project descriptions / notes and credits that are filled with spammed tags.

I use Ableton and soundation. soundation is pretty much baby ableton bus its waaaayy better than soundtrap.beep box and all those mods are forms of modern trackers/sequencers pretty much. Not too muc of an FL fan but it still a ver powerful daw. if i were to suggest anything. i would do soundation for beginners and then moving to ableton if you have the money. i use soundation for my genesis music and ableton for everything else.

Jaren’s eyes shot open. The cold stone walls were unfamiliar, and he let out a sigh of frustration. He was in the everworld now. The last thing he knew, he had been stabbed by the Viper. Zuleeka, Kiva’s sister–
Kiva.
A hard, cold knot grew in his stomach.
Deverick Jaren Vallentis, meet Kiva Corentine.
Corentine.
The daughter of the very woman who wanted to destroy his family.
The sister of the one who had caused them so much anguish.
Zuleeka’s parting words rang in his ears. I guess she doesn’t care enough to say goodbye.
Her crude words brought back a fresh wave of sorrow and horror. His eyes closed as the torturous memories washed over in his broken mind.
The touch of her embrace, her eyes glittering with the same expression he wore in the River Room. The music wafting through the high, ornate windows. The peace, just Jaren and Kiva.
Until she had abruptly left.
And then, when he had heard footsteps thunder behind the River Room’s doors, his heart tightened, his pulse quickened, and he couldn’t help but feel–
But it wasn’t Kiva.
“Zuleeka, you made it,” Jaren had greeted, visibly disappointed.
The mysterious sister of Kiva curtsied, strangely stiffly. “You don’t sound very happy to see me.”

Jaren’s head snapped up at the malice laced in her words, but he was too slow. Darkness crowded his vision as excruciating pain seized his body. Instinctively he thrust his hands out, summoning flames to his fingertips, but as they shot towards Zuleeka they recoiled away from her flesh. Almost as though… No, it’s not possible.
“Gods, what is this meant to be?!” Jaren demanded.
“I’m here to regain my birthright.”
The doors to the River Room swung open with a bang as Naari charged inside. “What’s going on?!”
Zuleeka’s dark magic reached for her, but Naari dodged out of the way. Her sword danced and slashed through the air without hesitation, her blade flashing in the pearlescent moon’s silver rays. She moved oddly, not used to the garments that the party had demanded she wore, but she made quick work of snatching the few weapons she possessed and fighting to defend her charge.
Then Naari froze.
Her sword was raised above Zuleeka’s wrist, her body positioned as though she was about to bring it down. But she wasn’t moving, and neither was her weapon. Every muscle in her body was paralysed, and she could only choke out two words to her prince.
“Jaren, r-run!”
But he couldn’t. As he desperately shot towards Naari, withdrawing his own blade as he did so, Zuleeka flicked a finger at him. Coldness draped his body. He couldn’t move either – his body was frozen in time. So all he could do was watch as Zuleeka withdrew a dagger.
Jaren’s eyes widened ever so slightly.
How?
A myriad of questions spun around Jaren’s mind. The Eye of the Gods was strapped to his belt, so why would Zuleeka be wielding a replica?
Oh gods, no.
The truth dawned as Zuleeka used not the replica, but the real Eye of the Gods to stab Naari. The faithful guard crumpled like a ragdoll, and Jaren’s cry never escaped his lips. The raw feeling of helplessness and horror clawed Jaren’s heart.
“Jaren?”
A familiar voice severed his memories, and Jaren slowly opened his eyes. His breath hitched as the realisation that it was his cousin, Caldon, who had spoken. Terrible scenarios shot through his mind. No, why was Caldon here? Had that wicked woman snatched the life out of him as well? Had Kiva stabbed his back?
“Oh my gods, you’re awake!”

Title speaks for itself.

A while back, when Scratch Lab was opened, there were two options people had:
1. Animated Text: A sprite can input text in different fonts and animations
2. High Contrast: A setting that makes the colors of scratch blocks and buttons contrast each other so that they can be seen better.

High Contrast was later added, but Animated Text was not. I really think Animated Text would be a good idea, so where is it?
