Last daily of this session

I can't believe it's over. It went by fast. This has been so much fun and definitely has helped me become a better writer. I loved how everybody was just so kind and supportive of each other. There's a song from a movie that I love. My favorite line is, “If kindness lives in everyone, then all it takes is standing up.” Doing SWC kind of reminded me of that line. When somebody was down or sad, almost immediately, two or three people would be asking, “What's wrong?” I just love it.

I think another one of my favorite parts was looking in the main cabin and seeing all the people who have done it for a while just looking back on the other sessions. All of the fun stories. I hope the longer I do it, I can have stories like that. And just to be able to connect with people that way.

I know how weird this sounds, but I think SWC helped me become less shy. At the beginning of this session, I really did not like talking to people. I always over thought it. I didn't notice it at first, but around halfway through the month, I started doing that less. I stopped overthinking. It became easier to talk to people. Again, I know that kind of sounds weird, but I think it's the truth. I'm still not the best at talking to people, but I've gotten a lot better.

This sessions has had a big affect on me. In more ways than you know. I'm really glad I got to do it, and do it with the people I did. I couldn't have asked for a better first session.

See you guys in the next session.
thank you.

Outline
309 words!
  • Madeline stands on the bow of the ship with Buteo as she sets off for a new land - waves symbolism!
  • Flashback to her meeting Selle, who interrupts a card game of Buteo and Madeline’s.
  • Inner monologue moment: Madeline wonders whether she will be able to find Selle there, and she ponders what exactly happened to her.
  • Touch down on land: a tiny rocky island to the north of Flammox, where Madeline and her crew had set off from Port Slate. MORE WAVES/ocean SYMBOLISM
  • Backstory about Flammox and the Organization. Madeline and Buteo talk about whether it was such a good idea for them to leave on a wild goose chase while leaving Leander and their siblings alone to take care of things. Madeline offhandedly mentions Selle; Buteo questions whether it was worth it to search for her after seven years.
  • Wouldn’t you know it, as Madeline sits outside after they just set up camp, surveying the area and wondering how to proceed, she catches a figure rushing around. She gets ready to fight, but as the figure gets closer, Madeline thinks it’s Selle!!
  • Flashback to when Selle left - of course more water and waves symbolism, but then the tide recedes.
  • Theme: saying goodbye, change
  • Character arc: Throughout the course of the story, Madeline reflects that change isn’t always bad I guess??

Okay backstory: basically Selle and Maddie meet as teens, they fall in LOVE yippee, and then when they got old Selle leaves and Maddie is very sad. Selle eventually end up on the stronghold island.
But why exactly did Selle leave? What happened to her? I have NO IDEA but oh well we’re about to find out!
Soooo I have some ideas right now:
Her parents disapprove
She got sent away to Flammox forcibly
Either way yeah she was forced into the deal by someone, somebody

Captain Madeline Strigid gazed into the azure waters ahead. Beneath their shimmering surface, they held quite the secrets. She was no stranger to the dangers of the sea.

But that was a different matter entirely. The ship and its crew were well above all those lurking below.

“How's progress?” she called to Buteo.

“Difficult to tell when we don't know where exactly our destination is,” he replied dryly. “If it's north of Flammox like they said, then it should be close. If we keep at 20 knots we'll be there by nightfall.”

Madeline nodded thoughtfully. The stronghold to the north of Flammox. From their actions so far, reprinted in the press of the continent across the sea, the Organization didn't quite seem deadly.

But it was impossible to take over an entire continent through just sheer force of will, she thought.

Amidst the monotony of the ship, Madeline’s mind began to wander. She was quite used to this, after so many years serving on the seas. But on this particular journey, she couldn’t help but be reminded of…

The clear waters.

Yes, that’s right, she admitted wearily to herself.

The sun. It was just as warm as now, wasn’t it? When she said goodbye?

Countless other days were filled with sun, she told herself, but it was too late. It seemed that even after all those years, her mind was still always looking for a reason to bring this up. The memory of Selle departing…

But it was on a sun-dappled salt-aired day when she came into her life too.

Madeline winced as Buteo’s hand came crashing down on hers. Couldn’t he have been more soft?

No matter. It was all part of the game, and if she had to get slapped to win, so be it.

She deftly snatched the pile and placed them into her own deck. It was a victory for her, as rare as it was, but he seemed as unperturbed as ever as he placed down another card.

“Can I join?”

The two of them looked up to see a girl watching their game with wide eyes, taken aback by the strangeness of her request. Madeline and Buteo did not tend to play card games with their friends, much less a stranger.

And strangers were hard to come by in the Academy. Madeline may not have known everyone by name, but she did recognize most students by sight.
She surveyed the girl more closely: she seemed around the same age as Buteo and herself, dark eyes brimming with curiosity and perhaps something else.

“Sure,” Buteo said first, letting her sit next to him on the grass.

Fortunately, the girl knew the rules of the game. And soon enough Madeline lost all of her cards, as so often happened, while Buteo and the girl faced off.

Madeline watched the stranger as the two played. Her short dark hair blocked her eyes as she leaned over the card stack, and the speed of her reactions even beat that of Buteo’s. Soon enough, he placed his last card on the current pile, and she quickly concluded the game.

“I’m Madeline,” she suddenly said as she offered her hand to the girl. A gesture that was stressed quite often, but she seemed a tad wary as she looked at it.

And then she shook. “Selle,” she replied.

“And I’m Buteo,” he piped up, shuffling the deck and looking rather impressed.

“Well, won’t you look at the time,” Selle said hurriedly. Madeline glanced at her own watch: still ten minutes until classes. “I gotta go, uhm-”

“See you later!” Buteo said, saving her froming to finish her sentence.

And so Selle scampered in the direction of the sea until she disappeared. Madeline wouldn’t see her again until three months later.

Before then, however, came the news that a thief broke into the academy.

It was truly an auspicious beginning, Madeline thought. Even if a tad strange. When the two of them had met again in the marketplace, Selle confessed to everything, and Madeline kept quiet about the whole affair. So that was what was in her eyes—thievery.

But Madeline didn’t mind. Perhaps she should have.

Gazing over at the horizon, it suddenly struck her that she had better things to do than reminiscent about events a decade past. Right. Her hands found the papers that the Bane siblings have left to her to aid in her search, and she retrieved them.

The Organization. The island to the north of Flammox. Reputedly the headquarters were hidden well in the island, for it was a mildly popular tourist attraction. Starrgo berries. Flammoxi prisoners. She turned these pieces of information around in her head, and for the first time, she began to wonder whether she had brought enough to deal with this whole mess.

“We’ll be fine,” Buteo reassured as he appeared besides her. Good old him.

“I wouldn’t be so sure,” she returned. But she was comforted by his simple words, and he knew that.

“Leander, Muiren, and Camphora will be fine too,” he continued as he followed her gaze to the waters. “They’re smart. Leander’s almost ready to become an officer, if you recall.”

Madeline nodded, recalling the three siblings and Camphora’s friend Basil. They were capable kids, and they’d helped with the whole fiasco. But this task was for the Shore Guard’s power alone.

They landed on the rocky shores of the island at dusk. There were no obvious strongholds, no ominous guards with ominous weapons, and yet there was something distinctively troubled about the place that Madeline couldn’t quite place her finger on. With a glance at Buteo, she could see that he felt it too.

“Let’s set up camp over by the shore,” she instructed the officers who came along on the trip. Only half a dozen. The Shore Guard, as important as it was, was not an army. This was meant as a reconassiance mission. Right?

Madeline joined Buteo as he started unloading the items from the dock. He had a tendancy of being her opposite voice: when she was worried, he would reassure her; when she was overconfident he would bring her hopes down to something more realistic. They balanced each other out quite nicely, she would say. Like the waves and the sand.

(Selle didn’t. Selle was the clouds over the sea, the whirlpools of the wild waters.)

“She can’t be here,” she whispered to herself.

“The lieutenant?” The exiled lieutenant from the Organization. The last they heard, she was in the capital of North Starrgo.

“No. Selle.”

In her defense—she always, always, had to make defenses for herself—she had heard rumors. The papers that came in from the reports: Selle. Her name. Madeline, as much as she should have, never quite caught her last name. Such were the ways of those who lived in the dark corners of the world.

Buteo tipped his head at her wordlessly and looked up at the gathering storm clouds, and then over at the sea. Madeline followed his gaze to where the distance shores of Flammox were.

“She could be there, she could be anywhere,” he said.

“Or dead,” she added.

“Or dead.”

Rumors, all rumors, had circulated in the past years. Madeline wasn’t sure if she believed in any of them, really. But Selle had always been the talk of legends.

As she watched the waves crash into the cliffs, Madeline felt oddly lost. This was her life, and these were her people: but she was missing something, something that had never felt quite secure. She loved Selle, truly. She always would. But with each passing year she returned less and less to her memories, stalked fewer and fewer of her dreams.

She remembered the paper clearly. Camphora and Basil, bless their souls, placed it at the very top of the stack as they handed it to her. A part of the Organization, reputedly.

Night fell onto the island. The stars were brighter here, much brighter than she had known anywhere else. The waves lapped forlornly against the rocky shore, over and over again, scattering starlight in the water’s reflection

And then. And then.

The shadow came more slowly than she expected, but Madeline took longer to notice it too. Stay alert, she reminded herself. However hidden the Organization was, they were still here. On this island. And so her hand rested upon her weapon in her belt as the figure approached.

But no. No, it couldn’t be. Madeline was surely projecting her delusions upon reality. And yet this figure was so familiar, the narrow face and the cautious stance and then the black eyes that pulled her further and further in-

“Selle?”

Their last day together. Madeline wished she knew. Before it happened.

Two years together and they thought that they could share forever, together.

But Selle only showed up to the marketplace, clutching a satchel tightly. “I have to leave.”

Madeline wouldn’t have thought more of it if it wasn’t for her panicked expression. “What?”

“Flammox. I- I have to, I’m sorry, I can’t tell you more but maybe someday-”

Madeline had never understood. But she was certain that Selle had a good reason, something she couldn’t ever divulge. It still hurted, though.

“Why-”

But Selle had already threaded through the bustling crowd. Madeline would never see her again.

I reckon you've got a Movement-Script:
Movement Script

Therefore, my version of doing a cooldown would be this:
when green flag clicked
forever
if <[0] < (Cooldown)> then
wait (0.1) secs
change [Cooldown v] by (-0.1) //You can't just do "Wait Cooldown Seconds" and then set it to 0, as this would mean that if a Cooldown is added ontop of another, it would be ignored.
end
end

if <(Cooldown) < [0.01]> then //Updated Movement Script
Movement Script
end

set [Cooldown v] to [2] //Set a fixed cooldown

change [Cooldown v] by (2) //Or add to a cooldown

This should solve your problem.

I don't think a studio without a specific theme can be featured. Maybe check the criteria you need to fulfil before asking for a feature.

What is your definition of “complex”? I consider any project using the pen blocks to be complex, and the Scratch Team has featured a few of those recently.

Stegie1234 wrote:

There’s no benefit to featuring only simple projects.
Sure there is. If a project is simple, that often means it is easier to use, easier to understand, and easier to remix. These are all important for Scratch's goal to inspire others to make their own creations and remix existing projects.

Stegie1234 wrote:

What about innovative projects?

(of a person) introducing new ideas; original and creative in thinking.
Hardly any of the projects show new ideas or methods.
Sure they do. Remember that a project doesn't need to have new types of coding in order to be innovative. Like that recent Waffle Tic-Tac-Toe project. Sure, it's the familiar Tic-Tac-Toe, but it's on a waffle! That's such a good idea. It makes so much sense, I can't believe I hadn't thought of it. The mere idea of playing Tic-Tac-Toe on a waffle is innovative itself.

Stegie1234 wrote:

Projects that inspire what?
Projects that inspire coding and creativity. Many of the featured projects do that for many people — not all people, of course, but many people.

Stegie1234 wrote:

If, when I was new to Scratch, the featured projects were like they are today, I’d compare them to games like Minecraft and 2048 and think “Scratch is very limited. You can’t make real games on Scratch”.
This is a matter of perspective, I guess. When I first started using Scratch, I wanted to make my own games using it. I was inspired by things like simple platformers and other simple games. Those were easy to play around with, and I got better at coding as a result.

Stegie1234 wrote:

I can imagine other people would’ve thought the same. But you can make real games on Scratch. It’s just they don’t get featured often at all.
What is a “real game,” then? Most games that get featured are “real games” to me.

munira made her way through the market as dusk began to fall.
it was quite a busy market night, she’d noticed; shoppers had already begun to congregate around the twisting canals, and she could barely find a spot to set up her ice cream stall. around her, the other vendors were doing the same, hawking silk made from moonbeams or mirrors that let one see into the future. the midnight market was wild—a place where deals were struck, tricks were common, and magic drifted through the air on a honey-tasting wind.
munira let the sign for her stall flutter through the air. “floral nostalgia ice cream,” the sign called with each ripple. it was enchanted to float around through the air, beckoning possible customers to try her wares. she let it go free, and it flew off looking for clients.
soon, munira had a short line outside of her shop. she treated each customer the same way. first, she snatched a waffle cone, then scooped a bit of ice cream into it and finished with a butterscotch drizzle. as the customer licked the ice cream, eyes widening with recollection, she took her payment of three coins and ushered the next client to the front of the line.
the waffle cone and butterscotch weren’t particularly important, but the floral ice cream was made from forget-me-not flowers that grew in enchanted forests. they brought lost memories to light. sweet or sour, the flavor indicated what sort of memory would be dredged up. a customer may leave with tears or smiles, but they were always grateful for her gift.
munira never ate the ice cream herself. it was too painful, after all. too close to a reminder of ayana, her perfect sister, the center of her stall. four years, three months, sixteen days, and she continued to serve ice cream, hoping that one of those long-lost memories would be a memory of her, ayana found once more.

“do you have to leave, ayana?”
“i want to see the world, sister. why do you not understand?”
“without me?”
“you’re happy here, munira. i’m not.”
“what if you get hurt? if you can’t come back? if you forget about me?”
ayana took munira’s hand in both of hers, folded their fingers together. “i could never forget about you, i promise.”
“do you really?” munira said hesitantly.
“take these,” ayana said, handing her flowers as blue and innocent as her wide eyes. “they’re forget-me-nots. that way, we’ll always be connected. and you’ll remember me, won’t you?”
munira smiled, memorising her sister, with her dark braids, deep bronze skin, and those startling blue eyes, brighter than the sky. her height, several inches shorter than munira, just petite enough for her to feel like the big sister. they were not mirrors, just rippled reflections, connected through their shared looks. she knows she’ll never forget her sister’s face.
“i could never forget you, ayana.” she folds her sister’s fingers over a few of the bright blue flowers. “go see the world.”

forget me not.

“i’ll take a scoop of ice cream,” said the woman across from her. she was startlingly tall, with a dark amber pixie cut and a spattering of freckles. her eyes were a dark cobalt blue, and something in their cool confidence reminded munira of someone she could not place.
“of course,” munira replied, grabbing a waffle cone and the scoop. she doled out a scoop of ice cream, ready to give it to her customer, but a sight in the distance stopped her. a few booths down, another banner like her own fluttered in the wind, advertising soul transplants. she shuddered inwardly. munira knew they were helpful to people who had been in life-threatening situations, but she wondered if one would ever feel like themselves in such a predicament.
“sorry, could i have my ice cream?” the woman asked after munira continued to hold the cone. she followed munira’s line of sight, coming to rest on the same stall. “those are…interesting.”
“i would say corrupted,” munira replied as she turned over the raspberry cone.
“they can be useful sometimes,” the woman replied with a surprising note of venom in her voice. munira raised an eyebrow, startled, but didn’t press her. she watched as the customer took a bite of the raspberry ice cream, and any protests she’d been planning to make had clearly faded away, memories overtaking everything else. still, she looked sad, with a longing expression munira could have sworn she recognized.
she pushed the woman from her mind and gestured to the next customer. dwelling on fantasies wouldn’t bring ayana back.

I think scratch should have a recommendations page, like you tube. where you could find projects, the algorithm would think you'd like. And some very small projects (like 75 views or less) could appear there to help small creators grow. For example, I've been working on my massive clicker game for months now and I want people to see it and give feedback. So, if there could be able to implement some sort of feature that could help small projects and creators grow, I'd really appreciate it, as most of the popular projects are just generic platformers, overexaggerated multiplayer stickman racer games with the most obnoxious thumbnails, and random clicker games that honestly, all seem the exact same with different textures. Some clicker games are very good though. Basically, I'm tryna say is, just add a feature that helps small projects grow. It'd be very cool and helpful.

Both are inappropriate via the assumptions given and name and shaming. It would likely be a 50/50, but for the Scratch Team, perhaps the one telling Scratchers to report. Honestly though, it seems hard to pick one than the other for being more likely.

Honestly I didn't find the mobile forums useless. This must be an isolated problem, but for some reason I found it much easier to use the mobile forums on my phone than the standard forums.

Even if it was “useless,” that's not a reason to remove something. As far as I'm aware, the reason that it was removed is unclear. Maybe it took too many resources to support the mobile forums given that most forum users did not use them?

The hate projects don't get removed because:

1. People don't choose to report it because with zero context, what's the actual point?

2. People are more likely to report a hate project they can actually understand rather than one with little information.

3. Some people just leave things alone.

It's okay for the creator to feel discouraged about their view of something, but it's just a coding website. What's the point of stating a more mature opinion ON A WEBSITE FOR YOUNGER AUDIENCES. You can do that on a website where you'll get more help from people your age. The Scratch Team is just trying to make younger kids be less exposed to more mature topics such as what you started:

PizzaReiv wrote:

Sexual orientation is a more maturer topic. If the creator was making a project about a mature topics, it would most likely be taken down, not because the Scratch Team is trying to discourage anyone, they are just trying to protect younger audiences.

Now the ones with less context only stay up because less context means that it is less likely to feature more mature topics. Maybe just add a trigger warning to opinions that contain mature topics like sexual orientation, or a loss of a loved one.
Like I said, this stuff gets promoted every June.
June is Pride Month, which is a month-long celebration of orientations and gender identities.
Yeah but what if I don't agree with that stuff
Well, if it is that you just don't agree with it, then that might be fine, but being, say, “showing extreme dislike” isn't, even though I am bisexual and do not get offended by much.

It's no secret that Scratch promotes liberal, progressive views to help with diversity, so projects that promote “politically incorrect” views in the eye of the Scratch Team/Foundation are more likely to be taken down. At least that's my observation. Hate projects may remain on the site due to the moderation team not finding the project and taking proper action and because people failed to report these projects to moderation. (after all, that's why the Report button exists)
Yeah this I what I don't get, because the ST does not want to stop promoting “diversity” towards younger kids 1st through 4th after all, it is a rejected suggestion
What would be your idea of “diversity”?

PizzaReiv wrote:

Like I said, this stuff gets promoted every June.
That may be true, but people are welcome to create projects around topics that they support.

The difference between someone creating a pride project and someone creating a project about why they believe LGBTQ is (filter spacer) bad is that one isn't harmful to anyone, and one is harmful to many people.

If you are offended by someone saying they're LGBTQ, then you're really insecure and that's not anyone elses problem.

Regardless of what political beliefs you have, hate is not okay.
That means that if someone is saying they hate everyone that likes Trump, that's unacceptable.
If someone is saying they hate all Biden supporters, that's not okay.
If someone is saying they hate LGBTQ supporters/people, that's not okay.

But if someone is saying they're LGBTQ, how is that offending anyone?

As some other people in this topic said, it's not a secret that the ST leans liberal.

But this doesn't mean that everything's fair game for people that agree with this point of view.
If you make a project that says you don't like LGBTQ, that's not okay.
If someone makes a project that says that they support/are LGBTQ, that's okay.

One of these is sharing who you are, one of these just is to make someone else feel bad about themselves.

If a conservative person wants to make a project saying they are conservative, that's fine as long as they're not sharing points of view that offend the opposite party.

TL;DR: If you're getting offended by someone saying they're LGBTQ that's your own fault.

Thank-You Notes!

Script Thank-Yous:

Alia: I can’t believe that in my first session as a co, I managed to get into such an awesome leadership team. Alia, you were such a great leader of the Script Theatron, and I’m so, so lucky to have had you to help me. Thank you so much for being so fun and patient with me as I was still figuring things out, and I loved being able to get to know you a little better this session. I had such a great time being a co alongside you, and you were really the best leader I could ask for. <333

Pepper: Aaa, Pepper! It’s so cool that we both got to be cos together, and I’m so glad I got that opportunity. I had an absolute blast with my lovely other co, and thanks so much for cheering me on, helping me out, and thank you for dealing with all the crazy rescheduling for our collab story. I’m so glad that I got the chance to know you better this session, and thanks for being such a kind and funny friend. <333

Bella: Bella! I didn’t really know you before this session, but I’m eternally grateful that you were in my cabin this March, because you made SWC so much more fun. I’m so, so glad that I could get to know such a wonderfully hilarious and kind person this session. From the frying pans to the mangoes to pretty much everything, I loved interacting with you, and I’m so grateful that this March ‘24 session gave me a chance and a reason to talk to you. I really hope we’ll be in the same cabin again next session!

Coco: Coco! Another person that I know from outside SWC, but anyway, it was so great to have you in my cabin this session. From the insane amount you wrote for Cabin Wars (seriously, I don’t think we could have done it without you) to always cheering me on, I loved being able to chat with you. Thanks for being such a kind, funny, and hardworking friend, and here’s to hoping that we’ll be in the same cabin next session!

Luna: Luna! We were in the same cabin for JWC, so it was really nice to be together again/reunited this session of SWC. You were such a supportive, amazing friend to everyone, and thanks for always cheering me on, as well as everyone else. Hoping that we’ll get lucky and be in the same cabin for the third time in a row for the July session! <3

April: Hi, April! I didn’t really know you before this session, but I’m so glad that I did get the chance to meet you during this session. Thanks for all your contributions to Cabin Wars and being so supportive to everyone. Thank you for being such a funny and amazing person and for making Script so great! <3

Toko: Hey, Toko! My goodness, you wrote so, so much this month, so I’m just going to preface by saying that you’ve definitely been a huge asset to our cabin this month, and I’m super appreciative (and in awe!) of your dedication to writing and SWC. Beyond just that, it was amazing to be able to get to know you better this month, because you’re such an awesome, funny person. I’m so glad you were in Script Theatron this session, and who knows, maybe we’ll be in the same cabin again next session?

Vicky: Vicky, hi! Thanks so much for bringing such a positive attitude to our camp, and I really enjoyed seeing you around. Thanks for your critique on my piece and helping me to improve it, and thanks for cheering us all on. It was so nice getting to know you this session!

Sun: I know we didn’t really interact much, but I absolutely loved your essay on how cereal is a soup and also how passionate you were about it, so thanks for teaching me something and changing my mind (possibly…still slightly on the fence about that, but I agree with your reasoning at the very least). And thank you so, so much for spending all the time that you do to make SWC what it is, along with all the other hosts. I’m eternally grateful for your tireless effort to help make Scratch Writing Camp so incredibly fun. I’m so glad that I got to have you in my cabin this session. <3

Everyone else in the Script Theatron who I did not put here: So as you probably have gathered from this, this was my first March session of SWC and also my first time being a co. You all made it so, so worth the effort, and I enjoyed every minute of camp. I can’t believe I got so lucky to get such an amazing group. Truly. I know that things got a *little* chaotic with us and stuff sometimes, but thanks for your patience and helping me out. Thanks for a wonderful session, and hoping that I’ll be seeing you all again in July! #ScriptFTW! <3

Other Thank-Yous:

Poppy: Aaa, Poppy, my lovely cabin sibling! You’re such an amazing, amazing writer (and that piece of yours I read totally proves this point, since it was absolutely stunning and beautiful), and thank you so much for helping to critique my piece for me! As well as that, you’re such a fun and kind friend, and I love seeing you around. We weren’t in the same cabin this time (although I’m glad we could be in the same sibling group, at the very least!), but I’m hoping that in July, we might be!

May: MAY! Thanks so much for listening to my very, very long rants about TBoSaS (I know that was in January, but I still had to say it, asdfghjkl) and for ranting back, and also for letting me talk about Ruta Sepetys to you, etc., etc. You’re such an awesome friend, and I love being around you. Beyond that, you’re also an incredible writer, and I’ve got no doubt that you’re going to publish something that everyone’s going to be talking about in the future. We weren’t in the same cabin this time, but who knows? Maybe we’ll get lucky in July!

Rockie: I know I don’t know you very well, but you definitely deserve a place in my thank-you notes. Thank you so much for your critique of my piece; it was incredibly helpful, and I think it ultimately made it a lot stronger. As I could tell from your piece, you’re a great writer as well, and I’m so glad that we ended up pairing up for the critiquitaire. Anyway, I also enjoyed looking at your guesses for what my name was — very entertaining, I have to say — although my name is not Charlotte, haha- Hoping that we’ll get to know each other a little better in the future and that we might be in the same cabin next session!

Balrog: So a certain Zeus has told me that he and you had a most excellent conversation about how he was unequivocally more powerful than you, and he recounted it to me in impeccable detail and enthusiasm. He told me that he thanks you for your graciousness in calling him far superior to you, though he quite interestingly left out the part where you sat on him. I think the great Zeus was slightly embarrassed about that. (Thanks for the chaos, hehe- I definitely had a great time with all the playful banter.)

Alana: Alana! I know we weren’t in the same cabin this time (and I’m very, very sorry I had to decline your offer as co), but thanks so much for being so awesome throughout this session! You were always cheering me on and helping out around camp, and I really appreciated that. Thanks so much for checking in. It truly made my day when you did. Here’s to hoping that maybe next time we might have a reunion after our Script Misfits session together?

Amethyst: Hi, Amethyst! Like Alana, although I know we weren’t in the same cabin this time, I loved seeing you around camp. It was so nice to be able to see my former weekly buddy (that conlang one was truly impossible, I have to say) in the main cabin, and I loved our little speedrunning the last few thousand words to reach our word goals thing at the end of the session. Hoping that we’ll be in the same cabin next time!

Mouse: Greetings to my wonderful sibling in Dystopian! Thank you so, so much for being such a hilarious person who never fails to make me laugh, and although you disagree with the great Zeus’s verdict to condemn Prometheus (*gasp* HOW DARE YOU?), I *ahem* Zeus had fun arguing with this naughty, naughty little mortal. Anyway, thank you again for being so kind and funny, and I loved seeing you around this session. I hope we’ll be in the same cabin next session! <3

Finley: Aaa, hi, Finley! I know we haven’t been in the same cabin before ever (which is so, so sad-), unless you include SRC, but I feel like you definitely deserve a place in these thank-you notes. You’re such an awesome, fun person, and I love being around you. You’re so kind and supportive, and I really appreciate that, and you’re also an incredible writer. Thanks so much for being such an incredible friend! <3

Recca: Darling Auntie Recca, what would I do without you? Thank you so much for all those silly little rants and conversations we’ve had, and thanks for reading the entire Naturals series because I told-yelled-made you and talking about it with me. Thanks for creating our most amazing BLÜ EYES colony in Antarctica with Ivory and me. You’re my number one cheerleader, and I love that about you. Thank you so much for staying up with me on those kinds of nights, listening to me when I need someone to talk to, just being the all-around awesome friend that you are. There’s so much more that I feel like I should be saying to express how much I appreciate you, but I really just can’t find a way to put it into words, so I’ll leave it at that. I shall end off this very long string of thank-you notes by saying that I am most definitely hoping with everything in me that we shall be reunited in the same cabin next session! (And you’d better be joining…)

Thank you notes
disclaimer: this is not going to be on the proper format because i’m on mobile right now but once i can access my computer i will fix this
note: these are not in a particular order. i was trying to go from the biggest group to the smallest but there is no ranking.

before i get into individual thank you notes, i would thank all the hosts for hosting this session of swc. this was my first time participating in swc and it completely exceeded my expectations. i met so many new people, had so much fun, and learned a lot more writing techniques. so thank you to everyone who made that possible.
thank you to all the people on the daily team, or anyone who tallies all the points and words. from what i’ve seen, it’s a tremendous amount of work and i try to show that i understand by thanking every ‘added’ comment. i know that gives a lot of notifications, and i’m sorry if they are unwanted, but i hope they cheer you up as well whenever you need it. thanks for donating your time to the endless hours of scrolling down to add up points and words.

thank you to everyone in script. although we’ve only talked for a month, i feel like i’ve created friendships that have lasted a lifetime and will last for another lifetime. when i’m old and on my deathbed, i’ll remember how much fun i had this march and i will cherish the memories i made forever. this is only my first session, but it might be my last for reasons beyond my control, so i want to thank everyone in scrip for welcoming me and giving me the best experience possible.

thank you to my cabin leaders, pepper, snowy, and alia. i’ve only known the three of you for a month, but i feel like it’s been years. thank you for answering my questions, motivating me with congratulations, and the hardest task of all, adding up all the words. as this is only my first time doing swc, i don’t know exactly how is supposed to go, but i know that i had a great time and that the three of you helped me feel very welcome. although i never talked to pepper or alia before, i had always looked up to snowy and her amazing writing which is one of the reasons why i was motivated to join script. thanks to the three of you for giving me a great first experience.

thank you bella and mouse. although you two are very different people, i feel like you guys are an iconic duo, and this thank you note wouldn’t feel write unless i grouped you too together. i never really talked to either of you, other than a few of my questions you answered, but i wanted to thank you for creating your podcast mangoes and mayhem. when the first episode came out, i was feeling really uncertain with my writing and i was experiencing a difficult part of life, but your podcast convinced me to join swc where i made tons of friends and had amazing experiences which cheered me up so much! thank you for being there and helping me.

thank you poppy. i still don’t really know you, but i want you to know that i look up to you and because you participated in swc this session you helped me have a great time. i wish i could have gotten to know you better, but as i was going through a difficult time in my life, i was trying to balance swc as best as i could and i didn’t want to spend too much time online. i hope to get to know you better in the future. thank you for participating in swc and i hope you had as great of a time as i did.

thank you chuey. as i’ve mentioned multiple times, if you read all the other notes, this season was hard for me because i had a lot of things going on in real life. thank you for being there, even if it wasn’t on purpose. i read your thank you notes and because of the reveal that you are grumpy the troll, i would like to thank you. your amazing plots helped cheer me up and helped me get back on my feet. i had a better session than o ever could have imagined and you are to thank for that. once again, thank you.

thank you chloe. i did not talk to you that often, but you definitely deserve all the thank yous in the world. you had such a great swc spirit, with handing out motivation mangoes, your silly writing prompts, and your whole detective getup. thank you for motivating me and cheering me up with your goofiness, even if it wasn’t intended. you helped me have a great time in swc and for that i owe you more than i could pay you back.

thank you so much, tilly, vicky, luna and april. the three of you played a big role in my amazing experience and you deserve so much for your amazingness. it feels right to group you three together even though you are all very different, so i’ll start off with some mutual compliments. the three of you helped me get through tough times in my life. yes, if you’ve read the other notes, i’ve said this to almost anyone, but the three if you helped the most. from making me laugh with all the ‘SCRIPT FTW’s to motivating me with all the ‘yes toko!!’s i had an amazing session because of the three of you. now let me split this into individual thank yous.

april- i never got to know you as much as i wished i could, i feel like us both being in script helped us form a bond. i hope we get to know each other better in the future. thank you for helping me have the best session of swc ever. i’m sorry this is short, most of what i was going to say is written right above. thank you one more.

vicky- like april, i never got to know you as well as i wanted to, but you seem like an amazing person so i hope to get to know you more. thank you for motivating me. all you did helped me have a great session, and for that i am eternally grateful. when i signed up for swc, i wasn’t sure what i was expecting. i was also going through a harder part of my life but this session helped me so much. thank you for being a part of swc this session.

tilly- i don’t know what to say. thank you so much. i am so grateful for you participating in swc this season, more grateful than you could ever imagine. like i’ve said in many others, you cheered me up during a hard time, and your messages helped me laugh a lot. i hope you had as great of a session as i did, and i hope that we will continue to talk outside of swc. thank you for being there.

luna- i feel like we formed a strong sort of friendship, and the fact that we aren’t as close as we could be is my fault because i was also busy with my life. enough excuses though, i would like to say that we are still able to get closer and i hope that we continue chatting outside of swc. you were sort of an immortal presence to me. whenever i was typing something, especially in the script cabin studio, i could imagine you on your end laughing at what i wrote and sending me back another funny message. imagining that, and you actually sending me all sorts of messages helped me a lot and for that, you deserve so much more than i could give you. thank you.

last but definitely not least, thank you ______. i was not able to put everyone in swc on this list so please, if you are someone i neglected, insert your name in the blank. this message is for you: thank you for all you did for me. i might not have gotten to know everyone as well as i would have liked but i still met tons of new people. thank you to every single person who gave me motivation mangoes this session. they really helped me. and once again, thank you to the hosts. this was a difficult time of my life and swc helped me through it. so thank you to everyone for being there and helping me whether it was on purpose or not. i hope to be at the next session and to make new memories that along with the ones i made this session, i will cherish forever. thank you.
