The blue header was broken. This was not.

and I’m not saying scratch should have everyone they work with’s domain, but I’m saying since scratch already has mit, it’s not a big deal.

I didn’t know .edu is for univeristys . But it still gives a good impression that scratch has .mit.edu because mit is a university, so education yay schools hooray idk

Hi, I'm using a text engine by @chippysmall4 and it's working on the original copy/past project but when I move the code into my own project it doesn't seem to work anymore. It's a key within the project.json, which is how Scratch stores all of a project's code

This has never been enforced, and not only blocks common editors such as TurboWarp, but it also blocks the default offline editor, so I think we can safely ignore this.

and we would play—my childish memories still see orpheus as more talented, and perhaps he was. it wasn’t technical skill or lyrical prowess that made him shine, but the gift to encapsulate life in music. he would perform, i would learn, and eurydice would laugh and laugh and laugh.
soon, crowds drew to our music like moths to a flame, all to see the gifted boy, his dazzling wife, and me, a girl of twelve. trees and people alike leaning closer as we played by golden firesides. delicate trills into dramatic arpeggios as we rushed through mezzoforte to climatic fortissimo, all of it a gift from the muses themselves.

orpheus, hermes, our parents, telling me in fits and starts what had happened.
how eurydice had wandered off, as she often did. how a snake bit her, and she collapsed, feet slipping out from under her like a heroine at the theatre. a twisted greek chorus of the wedding guests looked on at our grief.
a cry ripped from my throat, and before i knew what was happening, i rushed to the harp—my harp, my refuge, and snapped string after string. crimson lines crisscrossing my hands, pain shooting across them, a melody off-key, a painful, dissonant, harmony. scales rising, tempo increasing, until it all cut off at the peak of the crescendo, no ritardando to soften the blow. eurydice was gone. forever.
dimly, young one, i remember someone carrying me off, fragments of metal harp strings wound around my fingers. dimly, i remember fighting to escape sleep, a twisted cure for grief.

the next day, i heard the news that orpheus had left, and with him, his magical lyre. he was going down to hades, to rescue eurydice from his clutches.
he left me no word of goodbye; we had been close through eurydice only; but still i mourned his absence, that of a musical mentor, and eventually, i mourned his death.
i resented him for leaving me, letting me grieve alone while he played the part of the knight of romance. as his song drifted up from six feet under, his lament for eurydice, forgotten, i left the shards of my shattered harp as my own last gift to eurydice. as the song filled every tree and creek, the woods shuddered, each leaf dripped tears of sadness, the requiem so powerful it could move mountains. orpheus continued to wander, playing his haunting song. truly, young one, melodic minor is aptly named—his last epic was grief incarnate.

and i?

i made my living traveling, sharing my music and tales, becoming well known as the sister of that star-crossed couple, orpheus and eurydice. you won't find me in any of the olden myth-books, but that's no excuse for me to be forgotten. i didn’t mind the neglect, just the regret—the question, again and again, “why didn’t you go? you could have saved her.”
could i have? i’ll never know. young one, if you ever have a choice like that, make the choice you can live with. crossroads like that, they’re cadences in your life. they define you, ruin you, even.
in stories and songs, i wandered like eurydice, sang like orpheus, until i ended up here, telling my story to you. before, my song, my epic, hadn't had an end, but i suppose it does now, with this final tale.

Those four words echoed in his head. Snow kept those words close to him every step of the way. If the phrase was enough to get him and his cousin, Tigris, and their grandmother all through the war safely and together, it would surely be enough of a lifeline to get him through anything else. Not that anyone needed to know that he even thought about needing a lifeline. After all, he was a Snow. Perhaps once disgraced in a very distant past, though Snow had certainly done all that he could to cover that image, but now only known for their glory. Coriolanus Snow, Dr. Volumnia Gaul’s most famed protégé. A far step from where he had been a little less than a year ago, hoping for a way out of District Twelve.

Snow shook his head to clear the thoughts. Thinking of Twelve made him think of…that girl. The one he called his. He should have known better than to give his heart away so freely.

With the Eleventh Annual Hunger Games approaching so rapidly, there was work to be done. No time to spend dwelling in the past, thinking of all the things that could have been. Snow had a job to do, and he would do it well.

Now, without the threat of Casca Highbottom looming over him, Snow felt far more free to do as he pleased throughout the day, so long as he dreamed up enough of his genius ideas for the Games and reported to Dr. Gaul at the specified times. He felt no particular attachment to the woman, but regardless, he had done what needed to be done and chosen the lesser of two evils.

The slip he held in his hands showed the information for the meeting. Top-secret, supposedly, and though he would never admit to it, he felt a certain sort of pride from being one of the rare few with access to such a source of information. The rest of the Gamemakers listened to him when he spoke, and when he wasn’t listening, they whispered about him. Whispered about how he was sure to be Gaul’s successor, how he was the brightest of them. How he was sure to put them all out of their jobs.

On the exterior, Snow didn’t like the way they talked ill about him when he wasn’t looking, but secretly, the attention pleased him. All the better if they understood his power, the power of a Snow.

The guards at the entrance to Dr. Gaul’s newest, shiniest lab — the one that Strabo Plinth had paid for in hopes to placate her and spare the great Plinth family the shame — took his ID without a question and buzzed him in. Unlike with the rest of them, they trusted him, largely because Gaul trusted him. Trust, as she had once said, is important. More important than love, even. Far more important than love.

Never mind that, Snow thought to himself, largely because he knew the consequences of such thinking, the kind of anguish he had brought upon himself from it. His morals would remain hidden, as they should. Love, he discovered during his time serving in the districts, was a weak point, a place where they can twist the weapon and kill you. Being the date of July First, with only three precious summer days until the reaping began, work in the lab grew busier with every passing hour, discussing strategies of the Capitol against the tributes, talking through weapons in the arena and fine details. By the end of each day, he was sure he had exhausted himself of all talk of the Games, but he knew better than to complain. Complaining would only drop him down more than a few rungs on Dr. Volumnia Gaul’s ever-so-complex social ladder.

“Ah, Mr. Snow,” she began, in that slow drawl he hated. It made him feel powerless against her, the very thing a Snow should never feel. Powerless. “Punctual, as always.” Dr. Gaul glanced toward the ornate iron doors locked once, twice, three times, in careful effort to prevent outsiders from accessing information. But leaks could come from the inside, as Snow had learned in that time that felt so long ago.

None of the others, predictably, had made an appearance. Snow deeply suspected they were just outside, laughing to themselves about him, about how high-and-mighty young Coriolanus Snow seemed to think himself. Well, he wouldn’t stand for that. At least he was being mature about it. That was more than any of them could say of themselves.

As the minutes ticked by in an awkward silence, they began to trickle in, one at a time, never more than that. Another ploy to cover up their perceptions of him, most likely. That would make the most sense. Even still, as the meeting had not yet begun, Snow struggled to busy himself with even the most frivolous of tasks in Gaul’s lair. He fiddled with the switches, less so in an attempt to test what they would do and more so in hopes that no one would notice the way his hands shook when he thought of the next Hunger Games. No, not the Hunger Games. The tributes.

“Well, now that we’re all here, it seems appropriate to begin,” Dr. Gaul said with a bitter laugh, a strange, strangled noise that sounded like a dying creature. It unsettled him. She unsettled him. “Mr. Snow? That includes you. Unless, of course, you think yourself above these kinds of meetings.”

Not-quite-giggling devoid of happiness followed the comment. More like sniggering at him being reprimanded. More like pleasure.

Stupid. His moment of distraction had cost him his reputation, at least within this room.

Snow dried his damp palms on the dark fabric of his pants and willed them to still before taking a seat in his assigned space, directly on Dr. Gaul’s right side.

“Yes. With the reaping just a few short days away, it’s crucial we clarify the mentorship. Last year,” she began, giving a pointed look at Snow, “we tasked our very own Academy students with the task, though with how that turned out…” She cleared her throat. “We have been requested, to say the least, to keep in mind our students. So that leaves us to put together an alternative solution for mentorship.”

“Requested” was likely too gentle a word for the cries of outrage from many parents, wondering if this year, they would have to face the risk of their own children being endangered once again for this sporting event. Snow remembered the bombing last year, the one that had blown open half the arena. He remembered Arachne Crane, killed by that District 10 girl before even the beginning of the Games. What was her name again? Brittany, perhaps. Brandy. Brooklyn. Something starting with a B, he thought.

Yes, all this only showed how deeply the hate for the Capitol ran in the districts. The fact that they would take revenge on the Capitol’s youth, justifying it by their own loss in a war that they began. Control, as Gaul had taught him, was necessary to prevent chaos.

Snow clenched his fists at his sides, under the table, where no one could see. He needed to stop getting distracted. This wouldn’t be suitable, not if he were to keep his place in Dr. Gaul’s top tier.

“Mr. Snow? Any thoughts?” she asked.

Of course she would ask him. The others stared down at their nails disinterestedly, though he could tell from the way their eyes darted up every few seconds. Knowing that they were watching, Snow picked his words carefully.

“As you’ve mentioned in previous meetings, people in the districts, as well as in the Capitol, need to have a personal stake in this. If, perhaps, we could extend that same thinking to the performance of the tributes in the Games, the District people would feel more…” He grappled for the right word for a few moments before finally settling on, “responsible. It wouldn’t be just some nobody that they were cheering on.”

Dr. Gaul nodded encouragingly. “So what would you suggest?”

“I propose a mentoring system similar to last year’s, though instead, we take the victors from previous winning districts and require them to mentor the tributes from their district. A way to ensure that any blame about poor mentorship falls on the mentor themselves, rather than the Capitol as a whole, and also to ensure that the fighters are taught by others who know what it’s like in the arena. It encourages the tributes to fight, which, ultimately, will make for a far more interesting Games.”

“But we don’t have enough victors for every district to have a mentor this year. That doesn’t do anything for us now,” one of the red-faced others said, the left side of his mouth quirked upward ever so slightly, pleased to have found fault in Snow’s reasoning.

Knowing the best defense to their truthful corrections was to acknowledge them, Snow quickly agreed to their reasoning. “Of course. Perhaps,” he said, addressing Dr. Gaul as his main audience, “we should consider taking volunteers for mentoring the tributes of districts with no living victors.” He didn’t know whether she was still alive or not, so the words stung, though he concealed the hurt from it and continued normally, as if the flashback hadn’t so much as existed in the first place. “People who are interested and know the risks. We could mail out a form tonight, put it on the broadcasts as urgent viewing. It’s the most efficient way of finding mentors.”

“It’s still not a guarantee,” the Gamemaker argued, looking at Dr. Gaul for confirmation.

“Nonsense,” Dr. Gaul said, beaming. “It’s not a bad idea. We implement it tonight, for last-minute mentorships.”

Knowing that this was yet another cause he had won, Snow smiled, though not a genuine one. Nothing like the cheerful boy he had been just twelve months ago.

Today, it was this small battle that he had won. But this Hunger Games, it wouldn’t be anything like the last one. It would be different. Because this time, he was the one with the cards. He was the one holding the gun, ready to shoot.

And when you hold the cards, and control the fire, what more is there to do?

Snow knew the answer to that question. He had known it all his life. To win.

To be the victor.

Author's note: Wow, was this a ride to write. As you may or may not know, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is probably my all-time favorite book, and I just finished rereading it for the sixth time a few hours before posting this. Doing this brought back so many memories, mainly because when I first started out writing for my own enjoyment, it was Hunger Games fanfiction. As I've matured as a writer, I've worked on finding my own genres, exploring my own ideas, but a lot of who I am as a writer comes from those formative experiences with writing fanfiction a little less than two years ago now. I mostly speedran this in a night, so I'm not expecting this to look very good when I read over it again in the morning, but it was so nice to go back to my origins as a writer and do my best to put a spin on Suzanne Collins's incredible work. Thank you so much for reading this.

Heart and favorite detectors are allowed, in some circumstances. If you're using a love/fav detector to say “Thank you!” or anything similar to that that doesn't give the player or anything, it's allowed, but if you use one in a way to give a prize for it, then its not allowed.

Example: A heart and favorite detectors for free items or a skin isn't allowed, but saying “Thanks!” is allowed.

Danielle marveled at the sky overhead. Why didn’t anyone ever appreciate the sky? It was such a lovely blue color, you couldn’t find it anywhere else in nature. White clouds drifted across it.
Night would be falling soon. The blue was darkening slowly as the sun descended towards the horizon. What was beyond the horizon? Was it endless water or endless land? What was is like out there? Danielle pondered these questions often. She really shouldn’t have, considering she was a hobbit, but she truly couldn’t stop herself as she stared out over the Shire.
Danielle jumped as someone set a hand of her shoulder. “Oh, it’s only you.” She murmured, slightly disappointed as she realized it was only Leefe. Leefe gave a small smile. “I thought you would be happier to see me.”
Danielle rolled her eyes. “Sure, excited to see the person who tried to kill me.” Leefe returned the eye roll, folding his arms and glaring at her. “I tried to kill you once, and that was a misunderstanding.”
Danielle nodded sagely. “Yes, I meant to kill someone else, my apologies for nearly beating you to death. I do hope you can forgive me, I meant to kill your cousin.” She imitated Leefe. “You are unbearable.” He grumbled. “You know you love it.” She said with a grin.
The sky began to turn a deep orange-red color. Pink would follow soon, and then purple, and then the serene dark blue of night. Danielle stared up at it, submerging herself once again in her thoughts.
Leefe sat down next to her. He was extremely tall, being a human, so even as he sat, he was tall. Danielle blinked and sat down next to him. They stared at the sky together.
“Something new is coming.” Danielle murmured as she watched the sun melt over the horizon, disappearing beneath Middle Earth. “And I want to see it when it happens.”
Leefe turned to her. “I’ll go with you. You’ve never left the Shire, and I know my way around. We could see the elves and the dwarves. We could see the beach and the mountains that pierce the sky.” He offered. He stretched out his gloved hand. “What do you say, Danielle?” Leefe asked, eyes glittering. The entire right side of his face glowed with orange light as the sun stretched out to touch his face.
“Yes.”

Danielle hoisted her pack and turned to look over her hobbit hole. She would probably be stolen from, but that was okay. No one could make sense fo the things in there but her, Leefe, and a few select others. She could find more armor elsewhere, though if they tried to steal from that room, the armor was enchanted to protect it.
“You finally ready?” Leefe asked, staring down at her. The sun had begun to rise.
It had been mere hours since Danielle agreed to leave the Shire with Leefe to explore the places beyond her home. She had packed everything she needed, and then some extra. Her load felt heavy on her shoulders, like she was carrying the burden of having constantly good manners. You had to have good manners if you wanted to live in the Shire, so it was always a struggle to be polite at all times.
Danielle gave a nod.
They set out, Danielle riding a pony and Leefe riding a horse. Hobbits turned to goggle and star at them as they rode down the road. Some turned away in disgust. Others watched with interest and longing. A few just flat out ignored them.
They reached the end of the road, where they would officially be leaving the Shire. Danielle tuned back to stare at all she had ever known. Leefe waited at her side while she drank everything in for possibly the last time.
The sun peeked over the mountains, coating the land in a bright orange film that made everything bloom with color as it chased back the dark shadows of night.
“Let’s go.”

The problem with the player collision detection is because you're repeatedly resending the broadcast, and the broadcast has a “wait 1 seconds” inside of it, and every time it's broadcasted it gets reset so it's never completed until its not repeatedly being broadcast, when the player isn't being touched.

I recommend using a removing the wait block, or making some way so that it only broadcasts once, such as setting a local variable to “1” when it touches so it only broadcasts once.

I can't seem to replicate the second problem you have with the “my etbs” list, the list worked fine for me with 0's and 1s as values, not only 1's.

They literally, literally can't revive Spectacular. The whole reason it was canceled was because Disney couldn't get the rights to that show specifically (due to it airing on a different network)

In the project, the player can split into small blobs but the player will become smaller, just like agar.io. The problem with the game is that when the player itself collides with the enemy (not counting the blobs), the code wouldn't detect it and it will only do so if the player is not colliding with the enemy. Note that the blobs are like bullets and can kill enemies but they will disappear by doing so. The “ETBs” list is meant to collect the “my etb” variable from the clone which detects if the clone itself is colliding with the enemy. It should have more values but only have 1 for some reason.

In the project, the player can split into small blobs but the player will become smaller, just like agar.io. The problem with the game is that when the player itself collides with the enemy (not counting the blobs), the code wouldn't detect it and it will only do so if the player is not colliding with the enemy. Note that the blobs are like bullets and can kill enemies but they will disappear by doing so. The “ETBs” list is meant to collect the “my etb” variable from the clone which detects if the clone itself is colliding with the enemy. It should have more values but only have 1 for some reason.
