Marvel Origins Deadpool First Draft Script. Thoughts?
[Introduction
[Scene 1: Wade Wilson's World
[Camera fades in on a gritty back alley in New York City. Wade Wilson, a former news reporter who got fired due to mental issues because of his disease. He's approached by a mysterious figure offering a chance to be part of an experimental program that promises to cure his disease (Power he is a mutant and he was born with it).
Wade Wilson (voiceover): “Life's a funny thing. You think you've got it all figured out, and then, bam! Some stupid rare disease. But hey, when life gives you lemons, make a kick-butt superhero, right?”
Male scientist: I heard you have a rare disease and no one else on the planet has it. We’ll cure you, with no cost. Just promise us one thing.
(Black screen and we enter Weapon XI facility)
[Scene 2: The Weapon XI Program
[Wade undergoes a series of brutal experiments at the Weapon XI facility, where his disease is forcibly accelerated. The process leaves him scarred, disfigured, but with enhanced regenerative abilities. Wade becomes Deadpool, a living weapon with a twisted sense of humor.
Wade Wilson (voiceover): “Well, turns out, they weren't lying. I was cured, but at what cost? I looked like a topographical map of Utah, and my sanity? Well, that ship sailed a long time ago.”
[Scene 3: Being Deadpool
[Wade finds out he still has his cancer and the scientists think the experiment has failed and they must put him down. Wade asks to be excused to the bathroom and checks the mirror. He is surprised to see his face all smothered and messed up.
Background voices: It didn’t work. What should we do? Alright.
Wade: “Who needs a face when you've got charm, right?”
[Scene 4: Enter S.W.O.R.D
[Camera enters S.W.O.R.D secret office and we get a zoom in on Henry Gyrich
Henry: “PULL UP THE REPORTS ON MUTANTS NOW!”
Scientist 2: “Getting it up right now, sir.” “We’ve had 3 more cases of mutants” “1 of them ran away into the woods” “We’re still trying to find out what happened to the other 2”
Henry: They don’t deserve to live. They can do anything they want and get away from it.
[Goes to a prison cell for mutants, fully guarded. Mutants are tied up in their cell and get electrocuted every 5 minutes
[Scene 3: Riot
[Camera enters a scene outside with many people protesting for mutant rights
Female leader protester: “We already have had discrimination many times” “We’ve regretted it every time” “Mutants are also humans, they just have some abilities that we may not have”
Chatter in the background: FREE THE MUTANTS, FREE THE MUTANTS, FREE THE MUTANTS
[Scene 5: The Love Connection
[Camera goes to Wade’s Apartment and Vanessa Carlysle, a mutant with shapeshifting abilities, knocks on the door. Wade opens the door and Vanessa enters
Wade: Well, well, you’re back. I thought I’d never see you again. After you… you went to the prison. (He says this while trying to find something to cover his face)
Vanessa: They tortured me. They electrocuted me every 5 minutes. They put something in my ear which makes a noise every 7 minutes. EVEN WHILE I WAS ASLEEP.
Wade: We’ve got to fight back. We can’t be hiding. I heard of this dude name Charles. He’s a old bucket, but I’ve heard he’s making a team. (Finds a red cloth to cover his face)
Vanessa: ”Looks aren't everything, Wade. It's what's on the inside that counts. Luckily, you've got a heart… somewhere in there."
[Scene 6: Powers
[Wade finds a dog and bends down to pet it but the dog attacks him and Wade is bleeding, but his wound disappears in a couple of seconds
Wade: That’s new. Let me try this.
[Wade climbs up a building and falls down on purpose to see something
Wade while falling: Yoo-hoo AHHHH
SPLAT
{Wade finds himself to heal and in a short amount of time he is back to his normal self
Wade: Well, I have super-strength, regeneration, and more. So whats next? Immortality?
[Scene 7: Dream Flashbacks
[Wade dreams vivid flashbacks of his pre-Weapon X life, revealing his struggles, relationships, and the events. Scene switches to when Wade was a toddler and fell from his bike and he had scars but they healed very quickly. Parents are very scared and leave him on the streets. Suddenly, he dreams about a person with claws coming straight at his face. He wakes up and checks the time. It is 4: 05 AM.
[Scene 8: End to protests
(Camera goes to Norman Osborn’s office. He looks down at his window)
Norman: Someone get rid of those scums who are protesting down there. I can’t keep looking at these mutants.
Norman’s assistant: Should I call in someone or do you know someone?
Norman: Let me get S.W.O.R.D
(Elevator dings and young Harry Osborn, 14 year old walks into Norman’s room)
Harry: Dad, we need better protection for these people down there. They stay there all night.
Norman: Son, Let me tell you something.
(Scene fades into Wades apartment)
