I think these spots deserve attention to games that are actually good instead of projects that are generic.

This is wrong. People take a long time to make these games. If it is fairly liked, loved, and viewed then it is not the creators' fault. He/she has no control if people view it or not.

This would be better, my only concern with it is that you can scroll through hundreds of trending pages before stopping, which would definitely not work.
