“Hmm. It seems he didn’t last long underneath my Quirk. I thought he would endure for at least a minute or two longer.” Midoriya muttered, kicking at the lifeless body at his feet. A cold breeze swirled around him, despite USJ not having any windows. A small shiver went through him as he stared down at his childhood tormentor’s corpse.
A muffled sob sounded from someone in the class, and Midoriya jerked his head up. He had forgotten the rest of them had been there for a moment. A sense of emptiness filled him. What would he do now? He had reached his first goal. What was next?
I’ll devote myself to Tomura. He decided. He’s been a good friend to me.
“Didn’t you hear the screaming?” Midoriya snapped at a spiky red-haired guy as he struggled to run towards Kacchan. “Stay back or you’ll die too. I bet you’ll last even less time, but I can limit myself so your death drags out.”
“Kirishima.” Said one with yellow hair. He set a hand on Kirishima’s shoulder, comforting him. Confusion trickled through the villain. Had the bully somehow made actual friends? His goons from middle school wouldn’t have batted an eye at this sort of thing. Perhaps he was just under some illusion that Kacchan had liked him.
Had. How strange that he was dead.
“You… you…” Kirishima sniffled. “You killed him!”
“Yes, I did.” Midoriya agreed. “Finally. I’ve had that on my mind for much too long.” He let a grin slowly spread across his face, making his eyes look slightly wild. One wearing a pink hero suit jerked back.
Midoriya turned towards Tomura, shouting, “They’re all here except the target! I’ve taken care of Kacchan too. Aren’t you proud?” He sighed happily, spreading his arms. A grunt was his only response. Midoriya gave a shrug. “I think I did quite well. Let’s celebrate back at base.”
“Kurogiri will take them back. You and me will stay here and wait until he comes.” Tomura shouted back. Deku nodded, and the class disappeared into an inky black and purple portal.
Another shudder suddenly ran through Midoriya. Everything seemed oddly cold. Was this a side effect of his quirk he hadn’t noticed?
I haven’t had it for long. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was and I just hadn’t noticed. He thought.
“When exactly is he going to show up?” Deku shouted, folding his arms and stalking over to Shigaraki. “I want to go soon. This is going to be boring, just waiting.” He complained.
He paused next to Tomura. “Is it just me or is it cold in here?”
The blue-haired villain regarded Midoriya out of the corner of his eye. “No.”
“Hmm.” He murmured, his hands going to his neck where the hairs on it were standing up on it.
“Probably just a side effect.”
